Indy Poker Club Shut Down

Indy Star
For those who care.

It looks like the only poker arrest was the floor/manager.
Just thought I would let folks here know.

I saw this last night on the news. I used to play there occasionally (once or twice every couple of months). I'm sorta surprised it took so long for it to get busted.

My friend, that now lives in Indy, was back here (Harrisburg, Pa) to clean out the rest of his old apartment this week. Last night he was telling us all about that place and how fishy/soft it was. He will not be happy when he reads this.

It was definitely the best place to play poker in the Indianapolis area so it sucks pretty bad. I was never a regular there by any means but I have buddies who play there all the time. They must not have been there last night though b/c I haven't gotten any phone calls this morning about it.

I played there quite a bit to and I'm glad I wasn't around for these shenanigans. Another great place in Fort Wayne so I'm wondering if this is going to be a statewide "crack down" or just an Indy city thing

IPC had the easiest games in town but was not my favorite place to play. Management made a huge mistake calling the police to report the armed robbery that occurred last week. This brought them unwanted scrutiny and forced the authorities to step in.
Another "club" in town had its lease revoked so poker in Indy is in jeopardy. My feeling this is crackdown on one club and doubt it will spread unless the owners decide to discuss other rooms in the city.

As a reminder - do not discuss the other rooms in the B&M forum. We don't disclose information on private card rooms here for the safety of it's regular patrons and owners.

I haven't played there, but friends of mine had.

I think it's probably more related to the recent coverage over the
"pea shake" houses. Ignoring the pea shake = black, poker = white racial overtones, the general vibe of the coverage was that these places are harmless and should either be overlooked or legalized.

But when the place is victimized by an armed robbery (as IPC was last week), the claims of "harmless" go out the window.

My guess is that if the IPC owners had not filed the police report about the robbery, word would have gotten out anyway and the event would have been spun poorly. By being upfront and reporting the crime, IPC at least laid claim to some legitimacy.

Quoting TT so he realizes I didn't miss this point...

Does anyone know if the Muncie club I'd mentioned priviously is still operating? If so, how are they doing?

TT, this Muncie club I'm asking about put out a press release at their opening. It's certainly not a secret; please don't delete this post.

My Understanding that the 3 or 4 clubs in Muncie are still in operation. The Delaware County prosecutor has publicly stated that poker is a game of chance.
Hopefully they learn the lesson to provide adequate security to protect their patrons and their business.
