Fri Morning Turbo Game: Pog Auction

This is a Turbo game with 15 quick rounds; it should take <1.5 hours

I'd like to get 4-6 players in on this, but we can take up to 9 (after that, we'd just play ww)

The Game:

Each round a random number generator will tell us a pog worth somewhere from -5 to 10. Everyone then bids on that pog and the winner gets that point value for the round. Whomever has the most points after 15 rounds wins.

How it works:

Each player can bid 1-15 in a round via pm to me (moderator). You may only bid each value once per full game, so if you bid 10 in round 1, you can't bid 10 again.

Clashing: If 2+ players bid the same amount, their bid is null and void that round (and they still lose the ability to ever bid that amount as well)

Please post if you want to play and if you need any clarifications.

I'm in; I can mod and play

IN - now I'll read the post

Re: Fri Morning Turbo Game: Pog Auction

I'm confused.

There's a random value selected for a round. Whoever bids the highest, gets that point value? If 2 people bid the same, they cancel each other out. If 2 people bid 15, and 1 14, does the person who bid 14 get the points?

I'm in, btw.

Re: Fri Morning Turbo Game: Pog Auction

zurvan, yes whoever bids the highest by themselves wins the point value

so 2 15s and a 14, the 14 wins since the 15s clashed

Nicholasp27 05-05-2006 11:46 AM

Re: Fri Morning Turbo Game: Pog Auction

Important Rule:

Whoever bids the LOWEST on negative values wins that Pog...so a bid of 1 would win it over a bid of 15...that way everyone doesn't all bid 1 for negative numbers and clash and not have to take the negative value

PokerIsForGeeks 05-05-2006 11:47 AM

Re: Fri Morning Turbo Game: Pog Auction

So the value of it can be 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 or 10? And you can bid 1 to 15. Bids of 1-4 and 11-15 are 'null' bids?

This pog is worth 9 points!

Please pm me your bids ASAP. I will then post the results and everyone's remaining values and the score.

Re: Round 1: Worth 9 points

the value of the pog will be -5 to 15 (0 could be the value as well)

your bid is separate from the pog's value...u basically wanna bid the highest number that nobody else bid...however, there is a metagame aspect due to the fact that u can't ever use the same bid twice...and there may be negative ones that u wanna bid high on later to avoid getting...

Re: Round 4: Worth 0 points

In the future, there should be a bonus at the end for most number of pogs, so even zero and negative value ones could have some value

Nicholasp27 05-05-2006 12:32 PM

Re: Round 4: Worth 0 points

yeah; we also could do coin-flip each round to determine if highest or lowest wins it...so that low values have value
