Official Mizzou VS KU football thread

This game will be huge. I predict a Mizzou win. They are a solid team, and to me Kansas is very good, but there is no reason to assume that they can win against top tier competition yet. Im guessing a 34-24 win when all is said and done.

*Full disclosure: I go to Mizzou, so im def biased.

I couldnt find one, so i made this. If there is then go ahead and delete/lock. Also link please?

Edit: if your talking about the "why i hate mizzou thread" i meant for this thread to discuss the merits of each team and make performance predictions rather than to debate which state has more rednecks/idiots.

This game will be very big. I think that we'll truly get to see the defenses play on both sides. KU has a great turnover margin (top in the nation) and Mizzou held TTU to only 10 points. We all know that both teams can put up points.

All the pieces are in place for a very fun matchup I think. Both were relatively big surprises this year and I think that either has a chance for a NC game if they win out.

I think that Mizzou has an edge as far as competition. Not sure if anyone can deny that, their opponents are tougher than KU's. It'll really be interesting to see Talib and the rest of the backfield vs. Rucker and Maclin. Should be a fun game!

I predict MU pulls an upset, 38-30.

College gameday is coming. Missouri fans mixed together with KU fans for 10+ hours of drinking/tailgating. Wow this is going to be awesome!

Can't wait. There's no way KU is going to contain MU's offense and MU's defense is crap so it should be a shootout.

Predictions:
Mizzou 49 KU 41

-KU tries some fancy play in the 1st quarter that backfires then Mizzou tries the same play and scores.
-Coffman has a huge day.
-The announcers make some lame joke about Mizzou having 3 guys named Chase on their team.
-Way too many closeups of Mark Mangino.

I don't mind a new thread for talking about the game specifically as opposed to the thread which talked about the Civil War and some game they played 47 years ago and other silly ancient controversies.

Mizzou's offense is no better than OSU's and we only gave up 28 to them. Not exactly a shut-out, but if you watched the game the defense made a pretty decent showing.

I'm still interested to hear a perspective on why all the computers hate Missouri. I haven't really figured it out myself. They had some relatively close games against bad teams, but also blew out some decent teams.

PS - There's no assurance that the winner will play Oklahoma at this point. That's all up to OSU.

There's nothing a sharp likes more than to see a public dog - on the road! - and already we've got all but one person predicting a Tigers win. If this keeps up, it's an easy KU win.

Re: Official Mizzou VS KU football thread

Are you being a huge nit because you think the difference between -2 and -5 is more important than the fact that they're a public (home) dog?

EDIT: nevermind, just read a few of your SB posts. There's a reason 2+2 is a great mb resource for square reads.

Kansas's HFA is more than 3 points. By saying it's 3 points, you're saying it's similar to playing at Florida Atlantic.

And nothing about my SB posts say square or sharp. How is Kansas a home dog? They're -2, and at home would have been -6. I think you made a simple typo, though.

KUJustin 11-19-2007 03:47 PM

Re: Official Mizzou VS KU football thread

Has anyone studied where HFA comes from exactly? (crowd noise, lack of travel, comfortable surroundings, etc).

The crowd should lean KU between 60/40 and 70/30, but I would imagine it's best scored as a pure neutral site.

Each of us gave up home games for the next 4? total years to have it at arrowhead. This isn't a one time event.

Also, the reason is pretty simple: $$$.

They're pretty much even in total yards, and the scoring difference could easily be explained by the difference in turnover margin, which while extremely important for showing who did well in the past, isn't all that strong a predictor for the future. While not opponent adjusted, it's not that far off.

It was a 2-year agreement to have the game played at Arrowhead this year and next. Each school was guaranteed $1 mil per year which is an extra $1 mil revenue over the 2 year period per school. Since the game is sold out, each school is getting about $2 million.

I why so much hate for em? Aren't we supposed to root for the underdogs?

I hope the winner of this game wins the national title. The winner of this game is def. in the NC title game if they beat Oklahoma (or whoever) in the big 12 championship.
