If you're going to play for an additional $1 preflop, then, yeah, I guess you're playing for your ~50 BB stack when you flop top pair.

That said, it's not looking good when SB checkraises all-in on the turn. My guess is that he just improved (with, say, JJ or AJ) and that inspired him to get tricky. In any case, I think he's hoping your flop call means you have an ace and you'll bet it. (Continuing to bet would probably accomplish the same thing for Villain, but I guess he couldn't resist.)

It's possible that folding to that turn screwplay would be best, but most likely I would be feeling committed and wouldn't be able to do it.

Regarding preflop: I think that theoretically speaking you should play, either with a call or a 3-bet (you'd think Villain would be raising at least a somewhat wide range here), but if Villain hasn't been doing much preflop open-raising from the SB, then it is possible that folding is best. I'm not sure.
