does he call this with a 7? -- nl cash

about 30 hands in. i've been playing passive. opponent -- seems like a good, aggressive player -- has been winning most of the pots. he would definitely value bet a hand like 8x on this river.

i've only fought back once when i checkraised one of his c-bets and he called -- when i led the turn, he folded. his image of me should be that i'm pretty tight.

stacks 1100 or so
5/10 nl

i have 89. i raise to 30. he calls.

flop (60)
865 -- rainbow
he checks. i bet 44. he calls.

turn (148)
4
he checks. i check.

river (148)
8 - no flush out
he leads for 120. i push for 900 more.

The 7 always calls here.

I think so too.

Has he c/r you any? Most really aggro players prob c/r this flop with a 7.

ok let me rephrase this. when playing a passive player, how often does a 2p2er call this raise with a naked seven?

yeah 7s call here for sure and expects to split.

I play nowhere near this high, but I don't think I could fold a 7, even to a passive player.

Folds out better 8's, but 7's have to call. Often when someone is getting run over, they spaz out and weirdly push. If I am running someone over and have a 7 here, I call and see complete air occasionally (~10-30%, air percentage increasing with how aggro I've been playing).

LAGs are often showdown monkeys for this reason. People push back against aggro LAGS with less than the nuts because they are tired of being bullied and "he can't always have it" and "he usually has air here."

fwiw, i think calling a naked 7 against a passive player is spew.

if you call . . .

split + 180
bluff + 1100
full house/nutstraight - 900

throw in some percentages. i really don't think this is close.

i agree that sometimes they just snap, but a good amount of the time that he does have a 7 he's going to just call, so . . .

anyway, i definitely overthought the hand, and a call is definitely the best option

so you are saying you like his call now? 30 hands in i don't think this is a terrible call, if he thinks you are an unknown...

i still don't like his call. i think this is a full house more often than people think from a passive player.

because most passive players will just call this with a naked seven, i think his most likely holdings are

1)full house or nut straight
2)naked 7
and very seldom 3)bluff
