PartyPoker Low Stake SNGs

Is this an acceptable plan for low stake PartyPoker SNGs? (From a winning player, and hopefully remaining winning when I move up.)

I started with a $25 deposit playing $3 SNGs (a little low too start?). After a week or so of playing it's now $50.00.

So my plan is to:

Hit $150.00 and transfer to $6.00 SNGs. If I fall to $90.00, revert back to $3.00.

If I hit $500.00, transfer to $11.00 SNGs. Hit $300.00 fall back to $6.00.

From your experience with PartyPoker SNGs and general bankroll management, is this an acceptable philosophy? I'm not just worried about too little either, am I aiming to bank too high before moving up?

I think it's pretty safe. I haven't played on Party in year(s) and haven't bothered checking/remembering, but I thought they had lower than $3 SNGs. With a $25 deposit, I'd be playing $1 SNGs if I could. Your plans seem good, but I would much rather wait till ~$200 to go to $6 instead of $150. A general rule of thumb is 30-35 buyins for aggressively moving up.

I've actually found PartyPoker fairly lacking game wise, but its Canadian bank deposit is the only one I've actually figured out. I'm fairly sure $3.00 is their lowest stake.

I don't play SNGs, but here's the SNG forum FAQ on bankroll management:

If you are playing SNGs for a living, you should have as an absolute minimum, 100 buyins in your account. 200 would be preferable. For all serious players, 100 buyins is the standard, although there is nothing wrong with taking shots at a higher level with less. You can make adjustments for this depending on how willing you are to move down in stakes after a downswing. If you don't mind jumping around stakes, as few as 30-50 buyins might be enough. However, it is preferable to only move up once you have 100 buyins at a given level so if you DO happen to go on a bad run, you won't have to move down to recover. The reason is simple... assuming you're beating a given level, you will recover quicker playing the same stakes as opposed to attempting to recover at smaller stakes.

Re: PartyPoker Low Stake SNGs

I started out about a year ago playing $3 sng's on party with $60. There are tons of fish, the only problem is the terrible rake - 25% (5x the cash game rate IIRC). I play the $11's now - 10% is OK imo, but any more than that is getting a bit ridiculous.

If you want to play low-stakes SNG's, I would strongly advise playing at another site - Full Tilt for example has $2+$0.25 SNG's running, which is half the rake compared with Party.

In terms of BR management, I was moving up when I had 10 buy-ins at the next level (lol ) but thats obviously ridiculous - I have had 20 buy-ins swings since then and thats why I only play $11 games despite having over 1k on Party. I would suggest a minimum of 20 buy-ins at the new level, with the proviso that you will move back down if you get below that. Should keep you out of trouble!

The $3 party sng's are actually $2.60 + .40 IIRC.

Total rip-off, leave party until you can play higher stakes

I think it's even worse : $2.40 + .60

First : $12
Second : $7.2
Third : $4.8

Yup.. my bad

an ROI of 1% would be awesome given the size of those fees!

I'll definitely look into moving to a different site, thanks!

They are really easy but the the rake totally sucks.Used to play them & just checked my PT stats ,I played 63(a very small sample I know) $3 speed/turbo with an ITM of 44.44% & this only gives me a roi of 14.29% so you have to play pretty good just to beat the rake.
