Going on the road: Agua Caliente & Casino Arizona 12/16-12/19

I'm driving out to Arizona from L.A. this weekend, stopping off in Rancho Mirage to try out Agua Caliente the night of Dec. 16th. Then I'm pulling into Phoenix to hang out with a friend for a couple days and either the 17th or 18th we'll be at CA.

Anyone playing there either of those days?

Also, I'll definitely be playing 20/40 at CA, but as far as Agua goes, I'm assuming 8/16 is the biggest they spread? And the games are good from what I hear... we'll see how it goes.

Anywhere else in the Palm Springs-ish area I should try? It seems like Morongo and the other P.S. cardrooms don't have as much going in terms of LHE. Right?

I don't generally play the 20 at CAZ, but I'll gladly drive up there to have a drink with ya one of those evenings.

Its been about 2 years since I was at Agua Caliente, but Morongo has a much bigger room. I think they get up to a 15/30 limit game at Morongo. Anyways you pass them first, stop by and if you dont like the room you can always travel the extra 20 to Caliente.

I also hear if its raining, the old guys who play on the golf course invade Caliente to play bad poker and get away from their wives.

Agua Caliente also regularly spreads a $25-50 game. I think it's played with a full kill, especially on weekends. From what I've heard, it might be the best game at that level in the entire state. (read: profitable)

Unlike Morongo, they have trouble getting NL games going at A.C.

Good luck dude! Hopefully you'll like that room as much as I do. I try to get out there once a month from L.A.

I'll probably be there one of the two days in the 6/12 or 8/16 game.

Friend and I played the 25/50 game at Aqua crackhead mentioned in the early fall a few times. That was closer to the "off season" so the game should be going stronger now according to local legend. It is played kill, re-kill so sometimes you will get up to 100-200 (oops, 1-2 in cool guy speak ). At least back then it was stronger during the week.

The Aqua room only has eleven tables so I imagine it would be easy to get shut out. Eat before you get there, the food is expensive and not that good. In-N-Out is across the freeway.

Almost forgot. Aqua has an odd board system for the 25/50. If you get there before the game starts put your initials and seat preference on the board. Somehow I almost got shut out even though I was second up. Don't ask for details, just thinking about it has me steaming again.

PJ,

I'll be there playing 20/40 the 18th and 19th.

Feel free to say hi if you see me.

I'm 23 and usually have on jeans, hat, and a black full tilt jacket.

The fact that you are younger than 65 helps a lot. Look for the guy without white hair.
