When will the Main Event be televised?
 

Does anyone know when they'll start running this year's WSOP Main Event on ESPN? I'd love to try and avoid finding out the results until I watch it, but recall that last year it was televised for serveral weeks before they showed the final table. I guess I could avoid poker message boards and have my husband check the mail and take away my Card Player when it arrives, but I should probably resign myself to knowing who won in advance of watching.

Huh? I believe The Main Event ends Aug.10. How can they be televising it Aug.22?

They'll show day 1A-D for the first two weeks IIRC.

Kevmath is correct. I found the following on About.com:

Wondering when you can watch ESPN's coverage of the 2006 World Series of Poker? Well, the good news is that even if you don't shell out the money to watch the 2006 WSOP main event final table live on Pay-per-view, ESPN will begin airing this year's main event coverage on Tuesday August 22nd, and will air the final table of the $10,000 No-limit Hold'em main event on September 26th. After that, they will air another two WSOP tournaments' final tables each Tuesday until November 15th.

Why would that be a problem? That would give them a minimum of 12 days to edit the show.

It good to see ESPN cutting down on the turnaround time between the actual event and its televised date.

And what about all the pre-lim events they usually broadcast before the main event?

They're airing after the main event.

how much earlier is this than last years broadcast? a good 2 months ish?

Probably closer to 3, since they're doing only the Circuit events ahead of the Main Event.
