Two Plus Two Newer Archives - The Wacky Astronaut Love triangle attempted murder story

Has anyone else been following this story about the lady astronaut who drove from Houston to Orlando wearing diapers in order to assault a women she was jealous of having a relationship with the gentleman astronaut she was in love with.

The police in Orland said Captain Nowak made the 900-mile trip to Florida from Texas wearing a diaper so she would not have to stop for rest breaks. The police say she had targeted an Air Force captain, Colleen Shipman, whom she believed was her rival for the affections of another astronaut, Cmdr. William A. Oefelein, who flew on a shuttle mission in December.

When she caught up with Captain Shipman at the airport, Captain Nowak was in disguise, wearing a wig, the police said. She had with her a compressed air pistol, a steel mallet, a knife, pepper spray, four feet of rubber tubing, latex gloves and garbage bags.

When Captain Shipman refused to let her into her car, Captain Nowak sprayed her with pepper spray through a window, police said.

Captain Nowak told police she “only wanted to scare Ms. Shipman into talking with her.”

On Tuesday, a judge agreed to release Captain Nowak, a married mother of three, She was fitted with an electronic ankle bracelet so her movements could be monitored after her return to Houston.
