Would you be willing?

1. Would you be willing to drop an atomic weapon on a Japanese city, if that would be the order the president gave you, which came about through democratic means? Assume you have no further knowledge on the strategical importance of the mission.

2. You're with a large group (~20) of friends. It's late at night. A pretty girl passes by. It's noticed by the group. The group takes a vote on whether they should rape the girl. Everyone is in favour, except you. They assume the girl is against as well. The majority rule in the given area wins and they are approaching her with intent of raping her. You are the only one carrying a gun. Are you going to stop them? Assume that you have to shoot one of them in the leg before they back off.

For anyone who chose the same answer in both cases (y,y or n,n), what's the guiding principle for your decision?

No, no. Guiding principle? Non-intervention. If my friends want to rape someone, I'll opt out, but I won't consider it my place to stop them. This is especially true if they're close friends. It's much less true if they're strangers, in which case I probably wouldn't go for the leg.

You're just gonna walk away in the knowledge that you could have done something to stop it?
