hookup conflict with best friend
 

hypothetical:

you get back home from school for the summer.

you are hanging out with your best friend and some new people at his place (the new people includes a girl).

anyways, the friend is going to germany for a month and he talks to you before he leaves and it comes up that he's interested in hooking up with the girl.

you move 30 minutes away form where your friends live for the summer (while the best friend is gone) and happen to live near the girl.

you start hooking up with the girl.

is this a serious problem for the relationship?

if it changes anything, you and the girl end up dating for a long time and having a somewhat committed serious relationship.

I don't think friend should care and if he does he's a douche.


When I was single I was "interested in hooking up with" every hot girl I came into contact with.

Unless he professed some deeper, undying love for her, then who cares.

Your friend has no reason to get upset about this. I don't even see how this can be an issue.

the friend and the girl in question had been friends for a long time. So its possible he was interested in her on a deeper level than just a hookup.

If so he didn't explicity communicate this to me, but I may have been able to guess it.

That said, he hasn't shown any obvious annoyance with me getting together with the girl (like he didn't yell at me or anything) but we're definitely not as close as we used to be. If I had known that would happen I would've stayed far away from the girl.

Any idea of some good way to make reparations?

I have a question for the group. Being married for awhile now, I've not been in the dating/hookup scene to catch all of the recent trends. When did men begin calling "dibs" on random, unattached chicks and take umbrage when someone else hooked up with them? This is the third thread on this topic in two weeks.

I didn't understand the dibs concept before this happened. I especially don't get it with this guy because he definitely gets ass all the time.
