Chasing straight on flushing board
 

Hi,

I read somewhere that you shouldn't chase a straight on a flushing board. As far as I can tell the flop will have 2 cards of the same suit about 55% of the time.

This seems to me that if you never chase a straight on a flushing board that you will have very little use for rainbow wraps. And also, even if you chase a straight with a low flush you could still be beaten by another guy chasing a flush.

1. My question is therefore what is your opinion on chasing straights on flushing boards?

2. And as a follow up from that if you hit top set on a flop where a flush is on, would you draw to a boat?

I realise this is very general and depends largely on position and stack size etc. So the question is mainly for when you are in position and there are large stack sizes.

Finally I play at low limits but don't expect the answer to change too much based on the level you play at. But if you think it does please tell me.

[/ QUOTE ] You have to know your opponent. If you THINK that he is chasing a flush, unless you have two of those cards in your hand I would not chase a straight. Yet it still depends - if you're drawing to more than one straight, I probably would.
