Halloween inspired mixed drinks...

Having an around the world with several friends for halloween, need a halloween/fall inspired drink...Go.

Off the top of my head:
cider
sangria? (a 2+2 search hasn't come up with much)
What about shooters? shots? etc?

Thanks.

I love cider when it gets cold, here is my famous recipe:

1 gallon of fresh apple cider
1/2 bottle of goldschlager
1/2 bottle of rum
2 oranges
about a table spoon of cloves and a couplesticks of cinamon in cheese cloth

bring the cider to a boil, add oranges, and cheese cloth and booze, let it boils for about 5 to 8 minutes more to heat everything up, reduce the heat so it stays hot, but not boiling.

also, we used to do orange and black jello shots (just use green food coloring in the orange jello to make black.)

Whatever you make, put it in a large punch bowl with a block of dried ice.

Not only does it keep it cold, it creates fog that bubbles out of the bowl and lingers on the floor about 1 foot deep in the entire room, creating an awesome halloween graveyard atmosphere.

I don't think Sangria is a fall/Halloween-inspired drink. I used to work at a magazine that published recipes like this. I'll look it up tonight and post some of theirs.

Guids,

This time of the year I always make something similar, but instead of gold shlager I add a little brandi, and I enjoy a little lemon in it too. I think the recipe that first inspired it was called apple pie, but I pretty much just do it how I want it now.

Ive played with this recipe for years, this is my fav, and for some reason, boiling the goldschlager makes it tastier, this may or may not be in my head.

Theres a black vodka called Blavod. They used to sell it around here, but I haven't seen it in years. We had a bottle of it once and from what I remember it tasted pretty good.

See www.blavod.com or www.blackvodka.com

There is also a blood red vodka called Vampyre that is decent and pretty cheap from what I remember.

The Brain is a great one.

HAS to be ice cold though to work.

I think they make it a bit wrong. I gently layer the Baileys and Peach Schnapps and then drop in the Grenadine in the centre which pulls the Baileys down and creates more of a brain shape. I guess the method in the video is quicker and easier but the result isn't as good.

Another shooter you might want to look up is the Squashed Smurf or Squashed Frog

I would like to see someone pull this one off:
http://i171.photobucket.com/albums/u...eballdrink.jpg
Brain Hemorrhage: This classic bar shot comes into its own at Halloween. It's a glorious blend of grenadine, Peach Schnapps, and Bailey's Irish Crème. If you make it right, the Bailey's floats in a thick layer on top, with a curdling column descending through the Schnapps to the bloody grenadine below. It looks so cool, it's almost a shame to drink it. Almost. (this was featured on MSN today)
