Another AA hand, from 10/20 at the Borgata...

Dealt AA under the gun, 10players, 3:30AM Sunday morning.

I raise AFTER the guy to the left of me already mucked his hand. Button cold calls, a twenty something Asian American wearing sunglasses, more like an American Asian, has been calling with some really weird crap he knows he shouldn't be playing, since he keeps talking to himself out loud after every hand he luckily hits. Big blind, who missed being screened at the airport for suspicion of terrorism, throws in ten bucks, to see the flop.

Flop is 494 rainbow. BB donks, I raise, button raises, BB caps.

Turn is a Queen, BB bets 20, I raise, two calls.

River, BB checks, I?

Fold the flop?

I would hate to bet this river and get raised by either player. Somebody looks like they have a 4.

I would fold to 2 bets back to me after I check but I would call 1 bet.

I would have to be there to fold the flop but I certainly would not have raised the turn.

Correct answer is:

Fold the flop. I checked the river and it was checked through.

Big blind had 10-4o, and the button had J-4o.

No wonder I win in this game.

I don't like the turn raise at all.

When you have AA and there is a pair on board, and no straight or flush draws out there, you should be less inclined to raise unless you think it's for value, because there are no holdings that have significant outs against you. Given that the pot isn't really large, there's no reason to protect your hand here.
When you raise on the flop, you are just getting yourself heads up with a 4 or a 9, or a bluff. A nine might realize he is beaten and fold. A bluff will just give up ASAP. If he has trips however, he will happily reraise your ass. If you feel comfortable folding to that reraise, then that's ok. Otherwise, this is pretty much the worst way to play it.

Just call the flop, and let the button in with whatever bizarre hand he has. Let him peel with A7 or JT or w/e

On the turn, everything I said goes double.

On the river, you seem to have tricked everyone into thinking you have QQ. That's why they are checking. It's not because your hand is good. Just check behind.

It means he was a ninety year old guy with a Yiddish accent from Miami, Florida, transplanted from New York's Lower East Side.

Who else gets screened at the airport? At least that's what I saw the last time I flew.
