Should I have folded on the turn??

$1/2 NLH Game at Caesars Las Vegas.

Me: about $300
Villain: About $400

I am on bb with 4 5 of clubs. 3 limpers, villain makes it $10 to go. I call, 3 limpers call.

Flop: A 2 3 rainbow

I bet $20. Limpers fold, villain calls.

Turn: A

I bet $70. Villain calls

I'm putting the guy on a big A. Waiting for the river, if its not a A,K,Q,J or 10. I am planning on going all in for the last $200.

River: 8 off suite

I go all in, he insta-calls with pocket As, for quads!

Question: Should I have gotten away from the hand on the turn, when the board paired. I think I would have gotten away from it if I had had $20,000 (i.e. large stack).

Thoughts????

That's about as safe of a paired board as you can get. Unless you think your opponent is likely to raise with 22, 33, A2, or A3, there is only one hand likely to raise which is ahead of you, and there are 24 combinations of AK, AQ, and AJ which will pay you off.

You can't reasonably get away from this hand until your opponent puts in more money than he would with AK, and that that wasn't close to happening.

a huge part of his range is AX so I think you liked that A. You are stacking him off quite frequently in this situation

I would have bet the flop for at least 3/4 pot, and then gone all-in on turn. Immediately begin crying after the river, sit-out, type ethnic slurs in chat, and start playing again on tilt. But I'm not good at poker so don't take my advice.

And I don't think I'd ever play 45s from BB to a raise, just me though.

It's close. If you're fairly confident it will be a multi-way pot and someone will pay you lots of money even after you hit, then it's okay. The bad thing about suited connectors out of position is it's hard to extract the maximum value out of your made hand from out of position.

So, I wouldn't say I'd never call the raise there, but folding can't be too bad.

GEORGIA !! and Ron Paul !! ..awesome, didn't know if there were many GA online players. I'm a UGA student down the road in Athens.

and about the hand..ya I'd just need 2-3 more people to call the PF raise, which would almost never happen.

check call river if he doesnt bet too much.

check fold river if he shoves

I don't think I could ever fold this hand with just the paired board. Also, if i check and comes back with a smaller sized bet, I'm very likely to shove. And by checking it seems like it would almost induce a shove on his part. Either I'd always lose money on this hand, but seriously this situation isn't one I've ran into often.

If your going to lose to quad-aces I say go down in flames.

You bet too little on the flop. Around 2/3 of the pot should be good.

Otherwise you played the hand well.

Agreed, the odds of him having the pocket aces are really slim. Gotta think you're way ahead. Well played, tuff beat!
