calc 1 vs calc 2 vs calc 3
 

just finished calc 1 and worked my ass off to get an A, how hard is calc 2 relative to calc 1 and calc 3 relative to 1 and 2?

Well, tougher, ldo. Otherwise they wouldn't put those in that order.

I took "Pre-Calculus Plus Calculus" in my last year of high school and took Calculus I my freshman semester in college (fall 2005). I don't remember what I got in PCpC (either an A or B) but after that I got a B+ in Calc I. I didn't take any classes in semester after that; I was on medical leave.

I took Calc II when I returned, two semesters ago, and got another B+. Last spring I took Multivariable Calculus and Linear Algebra (one course) and got about a B in the MC part. I got a total of A- in the course.

Well I'm in somewhat of an interesting situation. I took calc my last year of HS (03, didnt put much effort and barely passed) and didnt touch math until this last spring semester where I retook calc. The teacher couldn't teach at all, but all his test questions were easy. The final consisted of mostly basic derivatives and integrals, with a curve and very easy volume question in there. Basically I just think there's a solid chance that I'm completely screwed for calc 2 for this reason, so I'm just trying to figure out how well I need to understand calc 1 for calc 2.

Calculus II (at least at my school, though I'm pretty sure it's the same at most places) focuses much more on integrals. One could say that they teach you derivatives to make solving integrals easier, and they teach you integrals to solve differential equations, which is important to know in any sort of science or engineering standpoint. But yeah, CII builds off of CI.

In college this is how it went for me.

Calc 1 = 1/2 of HS pre-calc, 1/2 of HS calc 1
Calc 2 = 1/2 of HS calc 1, most of calc 2
Calc 3 = calc in multiple dimensions (2D, 3D, up to ND)

Calc 2 was REALLY easy for me and if you got an A in calc 1 I wouldn't be suprised w/ an A in 2. The hardest part is series, but it's just memorization.

I would venture to say math is pretty important there.

I any case I'm pretty sure that you are not screwed. Typically the first or two of a math course here is review from the last math course, so the learning curve is pretty smooth. And, you might luck out again and wind up with easy tests again.

If you can pass calc 3 don't take 1 or 2. obv.

I found Calc 3 the easiest of the three. Calc 2 being the hardest.
