OT: Everyone and their mothers raising < 3x
 

I've only been playing online MTTs for about 6 months, but even in that time it seems like there's been a 'movement' against opening the standard 3xBB. People still generally do it during the first few levels, but once the antes start you see a lot of 2.5x'ish opening raises.

It used to be pretty uncommon to see raises under 3x (besides minraises), such that I would almost identify a player raising ~2.5x as being solid. Now I see some of othe worst players doing it too.

Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this trend during the past year.

I've noticed it. I feel like it saves me a few chips but who knows, I could be losing them at the same time.

A strange raise amount means much less than it did last year.

I remember watching Greg Raymer play 2 years ago, and he was constantly raising 2.7x BB.

Somebody asked him, "Hey Greg, don't you get tired of typing in that amount everytime?"
And he replied, "I never get tired of making money."

i hate the guys who raise so little on my bb late in tourney with huge blinds and antes, i feel like i cant fold anything getting a million to 1 odds. wtf.

i agree its mad annoying. it used to be an advantage we had... now people make it 45 at 10/20.

Its the pearljammer effect. It swept P5's.
