switching from live 1-2 to 2-5nl

Ive been playing at taj recently in AC, 1-2. been cleaning it up regularly. Is there much of a difference between 2-5 and 1-2.
I was also thinking of switching to the Borgata. Any experiences on 2-5nl at Borgata compared to the Taj.
thanks in advance

I was in your EXACT spot about 3 months ago. Was killing it at the Taj 1/2 and decided to step up to the Borgata 2/5. Note that when paying time you get more hands in per hour at the Borgata due to all tables having the auto-shufflers. When I first moved up I found my win rate to be about the same, but had a much higher variance at 2/5. I expect this might be typical. Though not super strategic, the play is much different from 1/2 stack-a-donk. I feel that my game has really grown since stepping up and that you will see the same. Good luck!

I've been a regular in the Borgata 2/5 for a couple months now (coming from the other way, but I digress) - its a pretty beatable game.

Only advice is know your regulars - some are pretty awful and most are tellboxes. Game selection is going to be a huge part of your EV.

The time charge is not bad, if you feel a bit nitty about it - go for the time pots if its a stable game - I paid $25 in total time for my six hours last Saturday.

thanks for the info. once u moved up, did u experience the play to be alot tighter, and are you still playing 2-5 right now. i was thinking of just buying in for like $300 and seeing how the play was before i bought in for the full $500.

never really paid a time charge before. is this just paid instead of having a rake?

Time charge for this game is $5 per player per half hour. It replaces rake (which does speed up the game). It is taken as a new dealer sits down - if you are out (eating, bathroom, whatever) it is still taken from your stack.

I work a regular job and play cards Saturday afternoons into the early evening generally. I'm about an hour away (so basically same thing as you). Games are good enough for me, I'm making a very healthy rate and feel the game is very beatable.

You have obviously not played NL at Foxwoods.
