I think we're more embarassed about this guy ^

As far as Americans being embarassed about GWB - he was elected for a second term, so I guess not. I was, slightly, but unfortunetly my man didn't get elected in 2004.

Yeah this can't be real...

But then again Bush got re-elected because appalachians and west virginians came out of the woodwork to vote, fearing Kerry would ban the bible if elected.

I am not making that up.

Bush is a politician. Politicians no matter what their party, country or political system, all focus on one primary objecive: getting in power and staying there. Nothing else matters to 99.99% of the people who want to run the lives of other people.

Anyone who becomes the President of the USA will have cut so many deals along the way that he (she) is bound to be a corrupt blight. Is Bush a bigger blight than normal or just a more obvious one? Is he less adept at hiding the warts or does he just not give a [censored] because there's nothing you can do about it?

I would be no more embarrassed at having George Bush as the President were I an American than I am at having as our Prime Minister the faceless moron who presently fills that rank.

The real power is on Wall Street, not Pennsylvania Avenue.

mostly. It's more irritating than embarrassing though - he seems to present himself on the world stage as a world saviour without actually doing anything useful in the UK.

Db, I'm embarrassed. Not because I voted for him. I didn't. I'm embarrassed because I worry that the rest of the world is thinking that Americans are really dumb and that bothers me. I wonder if the people in the rest of the world understand that half of our country can't stand the guy or his administration. Does England realize this?

This is not to bash on Republicans at all. I've seen plenty of republican candidates who I feel would be fine in the white house, at least a lot better than Bush, and I have a lot of wonderful republican friends. I just think George Bush has made a series of bad moves and I think he's absolutely the worst speaker I've ever seen on television. It's so embarrassing. In my opinion the Iraq War and Guantanamo Bay are shameful to all America.
