Is there any reason why you believed him the 8?
Do you think he slopwlay KK+?

I actually think you're winning this alot of the time, but it's not a BAD fold.

Ya like Tri said, UTG vs BB makes this a standard fold.

Agree with Benzoor. Fold seems OK, play of the hand seems OK, you are probably winning more often than you think. Tough enough to begin with for him to have 8x here and if he does, I have no idea why he's C/R'ing huge on the flop.

With position could've checked flop. If you're gonna call his reraise then you should be more aggressive on the turn(reraise perhaps or just fold). Going to river the way you did allowed him to shove with or without the nuts and you'd have to fold. It's pretty clear to him that you didn't have a set, and would fear one. Many would say why reraise his turn or fold earlier, but I'd prefer to spend a little to find out what he has, rather than giving the whole pot to him in the end without knowing his hand.

Re: std laydown i guess?

most opponents arent dumb enough to try to move you off KK AA which is pretty likely based on your line so this looks good but makes me wonder if I should start triple barreling a lot more

I'd fold, what is villian bluffing with? But i mean what can villian have an 8 is unlikely, I mean is he doing this with KQ ? tough spot but i guess you have to fold.

Re: std laydown i guess?

looks to me like one of two things:

1) mid pair or random 2 cards turned into a bluff on the flop, and followed through on the turn, and then a last-ditch effort on the river. bet sizing seems to indicate such a thing is a possibility
2) slowplayed AA/KK or an 8, putting you on the installment plan once you call the flop raise.

I probably call, because i'm a station, and theres way more hands he could turn into a bluff than actually have you beat. Of course its a matter of frequency rather than quantity, but depending on the spaziness of the opponent i think 1 is a likely scenario

Re: std laydown i guess?

i swear this is 77 or 55 a lot.

FireStorm 08-10-2007 04:55 PM

Re: std laydown i guess?

You know what, that thought had occured to me as well - Villian tried to move you off it on the flop with a hand like 77 and miracle'd the river.
