OT: I am done at Party Poker...their support rep cried on the phone.

Ok, this is my forum, and I never make OT posts, but I have to post it here and not the zoo.

I called support a few weeks ago because 4 of my 6 $55s froze up on me completely and I was experiencing no latency on my connection at all. They were no help and I was out $220.

Fast forward to today. 6 freeze on me. I call my ISP. They check and see there is no latency and I have 7.4MB of free bandwidth or something to that effect. I then call Party, and the first rep is actually a jerk to me, so I ask for a supervisor. I explain my situation to the supervisor and he says he understands completely. He goes to their "technical team" as he calls them and comes back and offers me $20 compensation. I laugh. I tell him this is less than the rake I paid to enter the tournaments in the first place. I then continue to whine that Party sucking has cost me a month of rent and that I wish Party was more helpful to its players. I was nice, and the guy understood. Honestly, he was nice. I was sort of impressed for a minute. He comes back and offers me $25. I laugh again. He keeps saying that he understands my predicament and truly hopes I decide to stay. I say that I pay around $12k a year in rake and this is the treatment I get. He puts me on hold a third time and comes back saying $25 is the absolute max. I tell him as soon as he credits me that $25 I'm cashing out and leaving Party. He does it and I cash out.

What happened next was extremely bizarre. He says, and I quote: "Well, thank you for calling Luke. I *sniffle really *sniffle sniffle* hope you reconsider your decision, and Party Poker will *WHIMPER WHIMPER WHIMPER* really regret losing such a great player *CRIES*"

I say ENJOY! and hang up.

Party support has always been, and will always be, crap. It's the nature of the beast. I don't play there because I expect great support, I play there because of the nature of the games and awful players.

I am not a pro, but I'm certain I won't donk off as many chips as I would playing 6 tables.

And Party has treated me like a dream in the past.

PS suzzer names I should avoid?

Were you using the Beta version? That's frozen on me a few times, but I don't have the same problem with 'regular'.

They'd probobly offer the same $25 to a $6 player one tabling

Re: OT: I am done at Party Poker...their support rep cried on the phon

I don't understand how it could be party's fault. When it's their fault they refund all the players remaining in the tournaments... they are very quick with this. Sounds like a problem with your ISP, but of course the ISP will say "Oh it's not us."

I think people vastly overrate customer service, at least when it comes to Party/Stars. While it is a nice addition, I'm not going to play poker just because of good customer service. It's not like Party totally ignores questions.

Re: OT: I am done at Party Poker...their support rep cried on the phon

It was not the ISP. I made sure of this before I called Party.

The dude admitted it was Party's fault but they could not offer me a full refund because the other players were still able to play in the games.

When you lose 9 buyins because of horrible service please come here and say you don't care.

If 9 players are playing fine... I don't see how it is party's fault. What'd they do, target your IP address and block you from playing?

FWIW, I've probably lost 9 buyins at least due to [censored] ISP service and still haven't called. I'm lazy.

Other than that all he whimpered was that it indeed was not a problem on my side, as I said.

This is not like an MMORPG beta, in an MMORPG you pay $15 a month. xLukex is paying more than that per set.

Dude, the beta has been known to crash. Also, it's called the beta for a reason... and how exactly did it cost u 9 buy-ins? Did you not figure out you can re-open the client?

Also, from the site "In addition, please be aware that, as this is a beta client, the standard Terms and Conditions of Use will be varied such that any loss of stake or lost opportunity for winnings as a result of the beta client crashing or becoming unusable or inoperative while you are using it are hereby disclaimed in full."

They were pretty generous to offer you $25.

Look dude, beta software is beta software. I don't care if you're paying $15 a month for a MMORPG or $125,000 for some database software. If you decide to use beta software you are accepting the risk that things may not work the way they are supposed to.

On top of that, you clearly don't understand the nature of the internet. Your ISP is NOT the only thing between you and Party. There are numerous segments of the route from your ISP to Party. If you run a traceroute, you'll see them. It is entirely possible that your ISP could so absolutely no problem with your connection to them and Party could have absolutely no problem on their side, but somewhere in between there could be a problem in the network with a company neither you nor Party work with that could cause you to lose connection to Party.

Frankly, if they had no problems with their servers or internet connection and you are using the beta client, you're lucky they offered you $25.

Could they offer you more to try to make a steady player happy? Yes. Are you entitled to more? I don't think so.

Maybe I missed something, but it doesn't sound like you:

1) Tried closing and reopening the program
2) Tried restarting your computer
3) Called a friend to have them finish the set for you
or
4) Drove to an internet cafe

Re: OT: I am done at Party Poker...their support rep cried on the phon

1) Did try, program froze. When I forced it closed and reopened it, same problem.

2) Sure I did. I also ran a power cycle on my modem and bypassed the router, connecting straight to the box.

3) I have only a handful of poker playing friends, none that have any idea what they're doing.

4) Well this one is straight impossible.

Re: OT: I am done at Party Poker...their support rep cried on the phon

Like other people said, this is actually your fault as you were using the beta. When you use the beta, you accept the risk that there will be problems. I had no problems with it for a bit, then it start crashing continuously. So couldn't play beta, and wouldn't play full size tables for sngs, so ring it is.

Re: OT: I am done at Party Poker...their support rep cried on the phon

I'm a little bothered by people saying it's his "fault" because he was using the beta. Like it's my fault when I get my money all in as a 80% to 1 favorite and lose. It's not my fault I lost, but it is something I need to accept.

I am a little impressed that it happened twice to him though

Nobody has said it had to do with software. I simply mentioned I was using the beta. The beta should have NOTHING to do with connection problems, as all the players play on the same servers.

And Durron, there is certainly nobody on 2+2 I trust playing on my account. I love you all though.

another way is to install both versions on your computer, and if the beta crashes, restart the regular version.
