River spot with 99

Played this hand over a month ago and been thinking about it a lot ever since. Specifically the river.

50-100 Folded to button who raises. He's an agro lag who plays loose but well. I call with 99. BB is same type as Bn and calls from the BB.

Flop QJx. I bet, BB calls, Bn raises, we both call.

Turn low brick no dr's. We ch, Bn bets, I c/r, BB tanks for a teeny bit then folds. Bn tanks for a good bit and then calls.

River low brick. I ch, Bn ch's.

Reason it's been on my mind is I planned on calling a river bet and I've been thinking about two poker mantra's. One is "if you're going to call you might as well bet" and the other "why bet if you won't be called by a worse hand?"

When he called after tanking on the turn, I thought I might be beat. His image of me is tight, but he's seen me make moves.

Comments on the river appreciated. I'll post the results seperately with this post.

FWIW - Those that might think it's a big deal I didn't 3 bet pf, sometimes I do but this time I didn't. Nolo contendre. I don't disagree, but think the river can be discussed here based on the line taken.

wow, your preflop, flop, and turn play seem obscenely bad.

He had AK and MHWG. BB was surprised and said he folded TT.

Been thinking about it because TT is the only worse hand I see Bn calling the river with. And even that is at best 50-50. I think he'd call with a an AJ type hand. So I don't see much sense in betting it.

But the fact that I would've called it has been eating at me. Because I'd say the chance of it being a bluff was 5-10% at best.

I should probably know it, but anyone know what the math is with that?

3 bet preflop, checkfold flop, checkfold turn, otherwise v. well played.

Is this post a joke?

Love the guys who think 3 betting pf here makes a world of difference in the long run.

Check/fold the flop. LOL. Talk about weak tight.

3 betting pre is much much better than calling. It's really not close.

Dean, as I said in the OP about it, nolo contendre. It really makes no difference to me and making issue of it is wasting both our time. Look at the hand as played.

Give him AK like he had, or KT, which I know he'd raise the flop with. I like the turn c/r because it's charging him to draw. The river is then the question though. Any thoughts on it with that line?

FWIW - I think the turn c/r was a strong play. Weak passive players don't do that.

i think if you are planning to call the river you should probably bet it. reason being that he wont call u with worst usually, but he may fold a better hand like J 10 or A J

Let's review. I bang out a guy with a worse hand and get a better hand to fold in the process. I ask a serious question about the river.

I get sounded off on by random jerk offs who don't know me, have ever played with me and yet pass judgement. I give up. It's funny. I see why a lot of guys stop posting here.

Scary Tiger. LOL. Gimme a break. Open seat 10-20, lock it up.
