Book : Tex Hold Starting Hand Strategy by Robert & William McCauley

I saw this book online. I was wondering if anyone has read it and what they thought this book would bring to the table for an intermediate level player ? Thanks !

Sounds like a good chapter... do we really need an entire book on this??

I flipped through it this weekend at the Gambler Book Store, Howard was raving about it. But I generally don't take Howards' advice because he still asks me how I am doing and if I won a bracelet yet, he must think I am someone else - I dont have the heart to tell him otherwise because he too old to remember - I [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Howard!

Anyway it seems to be a book of starting hands based on position and opponents. The book's cover is deceptive, it comes across as a beginers book but the content seems to be an analysis of equity ala Stox Trader (but with color charts).

It looks like very interesting content, it might be good. Only problem I see is that for 99% of all players the severity of their mistakes pre-flop and not as huge as their mistakes post-flop. Post flop is where an expert thrives.

This looks like an interesting book, any other comments on it?

$36 does seem a bit steep though.

Since I can't deduce it from Amazon's info (or I've gone blind - same result), and since someone has to ask the stupid questions, here goes:

Is this for limit or no-limit?

Only 60 pages into it but it appears to be Limit although it does reference Tournament Poker For Advanced Players by Sklansky early in the book. Maybe it will have NL also, stay tuned. So far it is a lot to absorb but interesting reading. It's hard to find may good limit books, I'd add this to suggested reading so far.

Seems like an interesting read. Could you please post a full review when you´re finished reading the complete book?
