Gun checks on the way into every casino in Las Vegas... yeah, that is realistic.

shootings at casinos are not entirely rare, opening fire on a casino floor is pretty rare though.

Crime on the strip is not uncommon. The area between IP and BC, and the area around MGM/NYNY are particularly rowdy late at night, especially on weekends. I'll also include the area on Tropicana from I15 to around the Orleans since that is so close to a center strip area. In the past few years there have been multiple shootings, albeit usually concentrated on high profile weekends(ie all star weekend*, labor day weekend, etc). Also multiple violent assaults, most notably a gang of juvenilles beating a maintenance worker outside MGM to a pulp.

Less high profile stuff is kept quiet and not reported. There have been TONS of other violent cimes involving guns and assaults that go unreported by the media, and in some instances not reported to police.

I will note two thing......#1.) I would avoid trouble on the strip, even if it means backing down and running away. This is because you will not get police response. Police presence on the strip on weekends is minimal at best. Anyway, how would they get through the traffic? #2.) If you have a daughter/friend...any young lady....I highly recommend that party activities be conducted in the confines of the casinos and that taxis be used to move from one casino to the next. There have been multiple kidnappings on the strip that are not reported by the media and the strip after midnight is not a safe place for intoxicated young attractive women.
