IMO this is funnier if you have only bases for your reactants, get rid of panel 6, and in panel 5 Jean says nothing but the cats say "They are all belong to us"

Mostly I was alarmed that I knew the names of 7 of those 8 chemicals more than ten years after high school chemistry.

Secondly, I don't get it.

Lastly, I figured it out and I think the 2nd one would be GOLD if you switched the 5th and 4th panels.

I think DKSr got it right. The first one was too subtle. The second was too obvious. His third one is just right.
