The APPT Macau: The First Texas Hold’em Poker Tournament in China!

Hello All,

I'm pleased to announce the PokerStars.net APPT Macau: The Asian Poker Open – the first No-Limit Texas Hold'em Poker Tournament in China and the third of four major events during the first season of the Asia Pacific Poker Tour.

The APPT Macau is scheduled from November 22-27 at the Grand Waldo Hotel & Casino and will include two significant tournaments as well as several smaller MTTs and satellites to the APPT Sydney in December. The dates to note are:
<ul type="square"> [*]November 22 – Mega-satellites to the $2,500 Main Event &amp; Opening night party[*]November 23-25 - $2,500 Main Event[*]November 26-27 - $15,000 High Rollers Event[*]Full schedule here: www.appt.com/tournaments/macau/schedule/
There will be LOTS of opportunities for players to qualify on PokerStars, through scheduled MTTs, the SNG Steps that launched a few days ago and a variety of freerolls.

Also, tonight at 22:33 EST there will be an APPT-Macau Kickoff Special to get things started! It will have a $200+15 buy-in and a guarantee of 10 packages. The packages are worth $4,500 and include a $2,500 Main Event buy-in, 6 nights' accommodation at the Grand Waldo Hotel and $1,400 in travel expenses.

The APPT Macau will be a landmark moment for poker in Asia and globally, as it will be the first government-sanctioned real-money poker tournament played in the People's Republic of China's Special Administrative Region of Macau. As many of you know, Macau is now the gaming capital of the world and we're bringing the sport of tournament poker there with this major event.

Giving credit where credit is due, I would like to thank Mr. Matt Savage and Mr. Elton Sang for their hard work and diligence with the Macau Gaming Commission for obtaining approval to produce this event at the Grand Waldo. After our experiences in Korea and Philippines this year we certainly appreciate how challenging it can be to have the first poker tournament in any Asian country. Kudos to them for this huge achievement.

Further to that, note that Matt Savage will be the Tournament Director for the Asian Poker Open and be responsible for the events. He will work with Mr. Danny McDonagh, Tournament Director for the APPT, to ensure the integrity of the game and a truly world-class poker experience for all players.

I hope many of you join us for this historic event, and continue to support the Asia Pacific Poker Tour as we break new ground and bring poker to the rest of the world.

Cheers,

Tatsu,

I'm already booked for this event though i'll of course be playing sats on stars. I'm pretty excited for it BUT could you PLEASE PLEASE PLEEEEEEEEASE do something about the 15k structure? It's a [censored] disaster. Please consider making a last minute change, with a buy in of that size we deserve a chance to actually play poker.

Oh sorry, it looks like the structure you have proposed on the Stars site is an ENORMOUS improvement. Very well done and thank you.

That's why it's great to have such notable Tournament Directors for the event. Matt Savage and Danny McDonagh working together will make it magic!

It's a big improvement Bond. However, it is still worse than the 2.5k tournament? Why? If I was playing, I would still request 25 / 50; 500 / 1000; 2500 / 5000; 5000 / 10000.
