Home Tourney

i am playing in a tourney tonite. hundred dollar buyin and 30 players. blinds start at 100-200 20 minute levels and 10000 chips. Most tourneys i play have 4-5000 chips and 25-50 starting blinds. do i take a different approach to playing this and if so what style do i use? Please help! 1st place is a grand.

yes- start making moves one round earlier.

Not sure I understand your problem- your 100BB tourneys become 50BB after one round, so what's the real difference?

We need more details on the rest of the blind levels, before we could say that any signif strategy change is required.

Assuming the blinds don't double every increase, then it's just like your other tourney except you are starting at the second level.

Man, imagine how big the game would play if it started at 1000-2000 blinds with 100000 chips. It would be like the WSOP but 10 times bigger

In our tournament we start with 200,000,000,000 in chips (in various designer colors such as pinkish orange, melon, squash, and orangish pink), and starting blinds of 50,000,000/278,000,000. That might seem like a large starting stack and long structure, but what we do is increase the blinds by 10% every hand. The game plays super big and it's super exciting, especially because you can never figure out how big the pot is.

Those sound AWESOME! I demand pics of your chips! Banhammer requested if you don't follow my demands! In fact, banhammer if you don't build us a chip castle and take a picture of that.

- Steal early and often, the SB is dead money
- Never defend your blind against the SB
- Overbet the preflop pot; your standard raise should be 27.327 BB
- If you are re-raised, fold everything but The Hammer in Rounds 1-23. By the 24th hand of the tourney, consider yourself pot-committed if you put any chips in the pot.

Obviously, you suck at picking edge spots. Self-banhammer for being an embarrassment of a host.
