Neteller Prepaid Card- worth it?

I was thinking of getting one of these seeing as I am completely useless at managing personal finances.

How do the fess/charges etc work out in real terms? Is it worth having as a back up card (seeing as I dont have a credit card)? Also, I presume it can be used pretty much anywhere?

Cheers,

Matt

Hi Matt,

You can get money at the ATM, that's about it.

further you can't use it almost nowhere

Really when I had it you could use it anywhere in Canada. What you need a ATM that is on the Cirrus / Maestro network. In Canada that is pretty much all of them. I know I have seen some in Europe as well although not sure the percentage.

NETeller usually charge you alot for their services, the only thing they are good for is moving money between pokerrooms that have the same currency as you NETeller account. This might be an exception though but check out the terms carefully.

Good luck!

People in this thread are talking about the old card that doesn't exist anymore. The new card is better than the old one and totally worth it since they give it to you for free.

This is false, the new card is a mastercard that can be used as a mastercard anywhere, including online sites.

they use www.altair-financial.com t provide cards for them. It is much improved. Especially since you can have the card in any currency you want.

So if I have a $ neteller account, I can use this card in the US / buy stuff in the US over the net? Also am I right in thinking, it is literally the $1 load fee now, not the silly we will charge you every day there is some balance left on the card routine that it was a while back?

Yes, it isn't affiliated with neteller the card. Neteller just sends them the money from your account automatically.

The main news compared to the old card is that it will not cost twice the 1.9% to cash out money with the ATM but just once.

I have the new card, it seems to work just about anywhere, I've even used it on ebay/paypal.

Takes longer to move funds to the card than the old one though, around 24 hours

The card you actually get (in the UK at least) is this one
