Casino Boats Legal in NY (Long Island)??

i saw a website advertizing a casino boat (with poker room) that sails out of long island. I was gonna post a link to their website wondering if anyone knows anything about it, but I'm not sure if this falls into the category of illegal rooms. Anyone know?

This is what I thought.

I'm not entirely sure it's in international waters, possibly still within US waters but outside the authority of any state (since there is no federal law against gambling)

As far as I know the boat sails out into international waters. I spoke to one of the owners and a few of the dealers, they all say that it is totally legal. Sounds like there's some good action as well.

they are legal. one was robbed last fall.

(Freeport, Long Island -AP, October 3, 2005) - Police hope security cameras caught some of the robbers who held up a casino boat in Freeport over the weekend. Police say a gang of four to six armed men robbed most of the 350 passengers and then robbed the safe of the Majesty Casino boat Saturday night.

Police say the robbers jumped out of a dark gray Oldsmobile around 7:25 p.m. Saturday just before the board was to leave the dock in Freeport. One gunman held a gun to the boat owner's head and forced him on board. They then ordered 100 passengers to "stay down and don't move."
The owner of the boat - Gary Gelman - told police that the gunmen then forced the cashier to open the safe.

Police say security cameras may have caught some of the robbery, and they hope the surveillance tape will identify some of the robbers.

I have played on the boat numerious times. Mixed bag of players some good and some plain bad. They spread 1/2 NL 50-300 buy in. On a rare occasion they spread 2/5 NL. Pot is raked 5 dollars including 1 dollar bad beat jackpot(never seen or heard a payout). 25 dollars to board ship. I have heard they issue 2 for 1 passes(12.50). +EV maybe. In reality it is the only legal game in town. Hope this helps.

Yes, it's legal and yes they go out past the 3-mile federal limit. I've been on the boat many times though I don't like playing NL and have had mixed results. (overall about even, but have had very big swings). I'm on their mailing list and got a note saying that they are now dealing $5/10 Limit Holdem on Wednesday nights.
