Top pair overplayed?
 

Villain is loose passiv with 40/8/1,1/28 stats.

My thought was that A3/A5 is a big part of his range that is calling a Riverbet. Also people like this call with some made-trashhands sometimes. Do you think that villain often calls with AK/AQ/AJ on this flop?

yes, villain will show up with a better ace often in my experience

I think the only thing that pays you off is, as you said, A5/A3, or MAYBE (probably not without history) a stubborn 8. Anything else is beating you. I'm all for thin vb's but I think a check is &gt; ev.
