Over the small sample size of my poker career I have never seen anything different than AA/KK here.

I've seen any pair here, AK, AQ, KQs once (from Bobby Hoff, of all people), and I know I've done this at least once with 87s

The major reason this is a call is because the situation is much more prone for the villain to be bluffing rather than trapping (he limped in 3rd or 4th position, not 1st; and hero's raise is very easy to interpret as a steal.)

namespace although your hand looks the same it is nothing alike because of position, which is often seen as an important factor in no limit holdthems.

whynot? 04-28-2007 09:25 AM

ok - so showing my donkey side

why is limping aa, kk qq etc as first (or second) in such a "donkish" play?

I often do that esp when everyone's M is high from ep for the particular reason that if you three times it very often you dont get callers.

if limped around i play for set value, play the flop and see resistance etc

if raised i either raise or call based on play ahead, how many callers etc

i will say the play is geting old in that limp from ep people are suspiscious of now, so been varying it but still get a lot of play when i do that

so reiterating, why is limping big pairs in ep "donkish" if discussed at length please point to a link

I do the exact opposite. When M's are high, I try to get the most money in PF, and I hate it if it goes x-limp/check around, and you have tens and tens of BB's behind.

However, when M's are lower, people value the chips in the pot more, nad many people are also looking for opportunities to steal from limpers.

So what I'm looking for when I limp AA and KK in EP, is a table with stacks varying from 5-20bb, and aggressive people all around. Of course, if my M is small, like <4, I just push, because I push with many other hands in this spot as well.

Of course, this strategy can backfire as well. FTP 75$ 12.5kg:
