Unplug it, pop the battery, unscrew the cover, figure out what g-damn way the stupid pos memory stick fits into the socket, put the cover back on, batter, plug it in. Tada.

and hard drive is basically the same, only you have to deal with a reinstall or clone.

Buy software? You can try calling Dell, but I imagine they won't be able to help.

I don't really know why you thought this was the thread for you. Was it just at the top of the list?

P.S. While the "official" thread might have been a good idea, at this point it's almost entirely hijacks (one of which is by the OP).

i just got a inspiron E1405. there's a coupon out there that has $500 off of a $1500+ purchase. (there's also one for $300 off a $999)

My opinion is that you should go and upgrade an inspiron to the max and make it just peak over 1500, use the coupon (google dell coupons, etc) and pay ~$150 more for a much better computer. Mine is the best dual core, 2gb ram, highest res screen, 2 upgraded bats, etc.

good luck

*you can also just upgrade the one you're thinking about buying to just over 1k and get it for 700+tax/shipping

Yeah..someone just started a new "rate my new dell laptop" thread so I think this failed miserably.
