thailand thread

so, are users in the travel forum allowed to make a new one? this sort of sucks because that's a huge resource. i myself have read it twice and am planning a thailand trip with friends in the next year or two because of it. is it possible to just leave his name banned as anonymous?

there was a huge bunch of guys posting in that thailand thread that are going to be pissed about this. i need to know what's allowed and what's not allowed before i address them.

Re: thailand thread

new thread without degen and no links to his sites: yes.

the old thread will be moved back when this is resolved. that's on billy.

Re: thailand thread

nation,

Coors Original (Banquet Beer) = yummy IMO.

My seething distaste for the Travel forum has nothing at all to do with you BTW.

Re: thailand thread

why would anyone bother to hate the travel forum? wtf? does this have anything to do with tuq's opinion that anyone with 3k posts should be able to use OOT as their personal menupages?

LOL, nice.

There is ample reason to hate the Travel forum. A mod of this site even contacted me via AIM recently about his frustrations with having to post there.

I have no idea where you're going with this, but my point is that someone "esteemed" enough to be considered a 2+2 mod was frustrated by its existence. Which makes two of us.

NT! 11-26-2007 03:11 AM

Re: thailand thread

i'm assuming you are saying they were frustrated not by the travel forum's existence, but by the fact that their travel-related thread was not welcome in OOT, which it may well not have been even before the travel forum's existence.

tuq 11-26-2007 03:20 AM

Re: thailand thread

no to the thumb,

I am frustrated by every thread in that forum's existence vs. it existing in a much more highly trafficked forum, be it OOT or BBV or even the Lounge or El D. Honestly I think this is something we could agree on if you weren't so dead set on disagreeing with me on every OOT-related content discussion.

nation 11-26-2007 03:21 AM

Re: thailand thread

i pretty much agree with tuq but whatever.

mat, since degen is out of your hair can travel have the thailand thread back?

NT! 11-26-2007 03:21 AM

Re: thailand thread

tuq,

i have had more or less the same opinions about OOT for quite a while, don't flatter yourself into thinking it's personal

i have no problem with those threads happening in any of those forums... hell you are a mod of the lounge right? make it happen bro

nation 11-26-2007 03:22 AM

Re: thailand thread

i think travel will eventually be rolled back into oot, just not enough traffic, not enough good info. i'm not even really well qualified to mod it on my own, any of you guys want to come take a more active role? right now i'm just deleting spam cleaning up threads, stuff like that.

NT! 11-26-2007 03:24 AM

Re: thailand thread

i would much rather see a place like EDF or the lounge become the go-to spot for travel posts, those forums tend to have more mature, well-traveled people in them and i don't want to have to police all the crappy 'what should i do in cleveland for three hours' threads in OOT

I am no longer a mod of the Lounge. FWIW I am now a mod of Sports and as such I have an actual "job". Which should scare the hell out of Vyse, and I've already apparently knocked BTYS back on track after PM'ing him about how bad he was sucking in Sports. More than anything though it obviously just needs another set of eyes, particularly with the NFL and college football and the NBA (and the NHL, L-O-L) going on concurrently.

Mat Sklansky 11-26-2007 03:30 AM

Re: thailand thread

a) maybe a fine idea.

b) isn't killa making these decisions now?

c) this could be more mod dump stuff. someone doesn't want a thread, they move it, and it's claimed by a different forum. it should be marked as salvageable in this instance.

NT! 11-26-2007 03:31 AM

Re: thailand thread

tuq,

oh, ok, glad you are in sports now, i think that will work well

NT! 11-26-2007 03:34 AM

Re: thailand thread

mat,

killa and i haven't talked about much of this stuff at all, as we discussed in nyc we will probably make a lot of the rollover happen once vb comes in.

but all the mods of OOT have a say in rules as far as i'm concerned and i've never tried to pull rank on someone just because my name is at the top of the sticky, i doubt killa is going to start that either.

pm me tomorrow. if i can fall asleep, wake up, drive to work, call the printer, arrange a shipment overseas, check my pms and emails, send off a bill or two, and still not feel the need to address a degen issue, i'll return thailand to travel.
