Another razz hand from $50,000 HORSE

Seeing a couple of hands from the $50,000 HORSE event on the forum reminded me of a razz hand that puzzled me at the time. I guess it hasn't been broadcast but you can see it reported here :

http://uk.pokernews.com/live-reporti...ay4/page14.htm

Kenny Tran brings in with a T
Amnon Filippi completes with a 3
Tran calls

On fourth :
Filippi bets with 3-A
Tran call with T-9

On fifth :
Filippi A-3-5 bets
Tran T-9-T calls

On sixth :
Filippi 3-A-5-J bets
Tran T-9-T-K calls

On seventh :
Filippi bets, Tran calls.
Filippi shows 8-6-5 and Tran mucks

Does this make any sense to you ?
If I had seen that in a low buy in online sit'n'go, I would think the guy doesn't even know that the worst hand win, but it's the final two tables of the Horse event, I have to assume he has some clue on a how to play the game and if he doesn't, well, I think I've got to find $50,000 because there seems to be a lot a value in that tournament.

He doesn't know how to play razz. I think this hand was discussed when it happened.

Maybe he Tran thought fillipi paired his ace, that would at least justify the 4th street call. but for the rest its bizarre badly played. He's calling 5th and 6th with a T low draw at most against a guy that has A35 showing.

Now I am a low stakes horse player, but that really looks like an idiotmove to me. Maybe it was 10th level thinking?

Call on 4th is awful no matter what. Gossip is Tran is a regular mixed games player at Bellagio, but the mixes are 0/8, Stud/8, 2-7 lowball and Badugi or holdem, 0/8, stud hi, stud/8 or something like that. He just didn't know how to play razz at all like an online or old timer mixed game player would.

A lot of people play razz badly, apparently including this guy.

When people say that lots of people play razz badly, I assume they mean people play badly like I play badly. But I have never played a hand this badly.

Just because someone is on TV doesn't mean they are good. And i think that holds true more often than not.

You have something to aspire to then Rusty. FWIW, if someone had posted this hand with no names, I could have guessed about 100 players who could have played it, some of whom are playing 10/20 razz on FTP right now.
