Vaporizers, is the Volcano worth it?

My vaporizer recently met its untimely end, and I'm considering taking the opportunity to upgrade to a Volcano, but the price difference is so steep that I really wonder if it's worth it.

What I had:

Price tag: $150

What I'm considering getting:

Price Tag: $540

As you can see it's a dramatic price difference. I am also open to suggestions for vaporizers I haven't yet heard of.

Oh, OOT, please guide me in my moment of indecision.

heats the pot up to a temperature high enough to vaporize the thc but not high enough to start combustion. apparently a bunch of toxins are released in the combustion reaction that aren't in vaporization.

yes i realized i should not be a googletard so i'm reading about them on wiki. Interesting... i still prefer the old fashioned knife hit.

Q:

How much better in terms of health is this supposed to be for you, compared to say, smoking from a piece? This might be a really stupid question, but if nothing is on fire then theoretically you're only filling your lungs with THC and not with smoke?

I'm an endurance athlete (rowing) but I still like to get high sometimes. I don't smoke that often (maybe 2-3 times a month) and don't really think I've noticed decreased performance, but I couldn't be sure.

there's an old thread where someone did a lengthy review of a couple vaporizers. it was very well done, convinced me to buy one and I didn't even smoke.

Like previously said, it is a very different feeling.

Instead of short term memory loss + head buzz, think body buzz and taking a couple of tylenols. That's the best I can describe it. I'd prolly try one before I bought it, but I bought mine blind and definitely do not regret it.

It's a well made product, and feels like it is accurately priced once you get it. You save a bunch on weed and there is a substantial improvement in your lung health - whenever I'm sick I find smoking only prolongs the illness... vapes don't have this prob.

Definitely worth it but see if you can try/talk to someone with a Herbalaire. I love my Volcano but I've heard that Herbalaires are great bang for buck at around $250 or so and functions very similar to a VOlcano.
