Update: Lucky Chances NL games to resume soon-ish?

Didn't see any other mention of this so I thought I'd post it. From the 8/30 Mattier & Ross "inside local politics" column in the Chronicle (quoted section is half way down the page):

"Lucky chance: The little town of Colma got a big break from the state this week when Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger signed a bill that will allow the Lucky Chances Casino room to lift a state-imposed $200-a-hand betting limit on the club.

That's a big deal in graveyard capital Colma where the betting limits -- which were imposed last September after a long fight -- were costing the town upward of $1 million in lost revenues this year.

The city -- which gets no property taxes or fees from the cemeteries that make up most of its real estate -- didn't have many ways to make up for the loss.

And with any luck, now it won't need to.

"We are breathing a sigh of relief," said City Manager Diane McGrath, who has been trying to stave off layoffs for the city's 50-member staff.

Lucky Chances lawyer Mike Franchetti said that while the new rules don't go into effect until January, he hoped the state gaming commission would allow the bets to rise within the next 60 to 90 days.

And with any luck ... "

Pai gow is a tool of the devil. Can you imagine how much those people would be dropping on the poker side if pai gow didn't exist?

Maybe. But what about the people who score big in Paigow and then come to sit in my 1-1-2 game. Thats always fun

Also, do you think this will bring higher limits to Lucky Chances? It kinda sucks playing with a bunch of rocks and TAGs on a lot of the weekdays that I have been there playing the 1-1-2

I don't think it'll change the 1-1-2 game much. The 2-3-5 and higher tables should get more fun though. I won't set foot in Artichoke Joe's since this debacle started.

AJs is the one who complained to the state about LCs spreading No Limit

It will be interesting to see if they keep the $200 buy-in cap on 1-1-2, or if they drop back to $100.

My guess, which is worth all you're paying for it, is that 1-1-2 will stay at $200, but that they'll put a $1,000 on 2-3-5 and start streading a big uncapped game again.
