Math side of the Game

After reading a topic lately i realised how important the Math side of the game was and seems i only play on reads and instinct im missing out on quite an important side of the game. I feel the best players are players who have a mix of both math and instinct.

So if anyone would be kind enough to help out on the basics or give a link to good posts on the math side of the game if their are any in old threads.

look for anything from Pokey, and through the Sticky....

I think both Goofy has a good post about the stack size needed to make it +EV to play sc's and Dan Bitel did a nice post on the pot odds necessary to call for set value...that should get you started

but no reading will give you the feel for the math like playing around with pokerstove/counting combinations/solving equations to find your FE/EV/whatever

there is no substitute for doing stuff like calculating the EV of shoving a draw yourself from start to end (this is his range, he folds these combinations and calls the others, what is my equity vs his callrange, how does the required FE change when i change his range, ...) a lot of times to really understand & get a feel for the math side of things imho
