Greektown, MCC or Soaring Eagle....

Hey Michigan players. I live out in Fowlerville, which is about 20 minutes east of Lansing off of I-96. So it takes about an hour to get downtown (but lots of traffic) or 1 1/2 to get to Soaring Eagle.

The reason for this post is that I do construction work and I am being laid off for a couple months till it warms back up. So with some persuading, my wife has given me the green light for 4 days a week of me playing poker to try and earn some extra cash to supplement the weak ass unemployment check I will be getting for the next couple months.

I will be playing 1/2 NL, 5/10 limit and an occassional 10/20 limit if they even have 10/20 limit anymore. So, to finally get to my question

What are the games like at these 3 casinos during the week and weekends? Are these stakes always available to play or is it pretty hit and miss? Obviously, how are the players at these levels? Is it worth the extra half hour drive to play at Soaring Eagle?

I have played 10-15 hours a week online (small/mid stakes) for the past 4 years and played some live during that time. I was a 1.75BB/100 hands for limit online and almost a 7ptBB/100 for NL. So I do have some clue of how to play.

The bankroll for this is kinda limited so that is the reason for the lower stakes games. I don't need to make much and it wouldn't be the end of the world if I didn't make anything. We have some savings and other emergency money. But since I have this opportunity I might as well make the best decision about where and what to play and make a few bucks along the way.

Just looking for some suggestions and info for my 2 months of live poker action.
thanks
Rich

MCC or Greektown, but prolly MCC. I havent been to Soaring Eagle, but you could expect all the games you are looking for to be going 24/7. Greektown has 1/2 NL with a 50-100 buyin and a 50-200 buying and both have $6 time charge. MCC has a 1/2 NL game that is 200 min/max I believe with a rake pot. So if your relatively tight which I would presume this game prolly is better for you. Hope this is helpful.

Given your plans, soaring Eagle is automatically eliminated, because of lack of "sufficient" action. So, your only option is Detroit "limit" games, because the $6.00 per half hour time collection n/l games are unbeatable. Do the math....you won't beat the rake long term.

How about Windsor?

The $6/half games are definitely beatable and always have been (MC takes a rake, not time charge). It is sure nice not having to pay a time charge..soooo nice!

I don't thik the eagle's poker room is open 24 hours/day during the week, but I might be wrong. MC usually has at 1, $10-20 game going all day, however when I left tonight around 10 there was open seating

Anyone with knowledge of elementary math could prove $100-$400 max nl buy-in games, with a $6.00 per half hour time collection, can't be beaten by 90% of participants.

So they are beatable (if only by that 10%), is what you're saying.

Re: Greektown, MCC or Soaring Eagle....

I can speak on SE...Open Mon-Thur 10am-130am. Open Fri-Mon 10am-130am (24/7 for weekend)... Every monday night there is a small 100 man tourney and the last friday of every month there is a 180 man tourny (both have horrible structures) As far as games go - On weeknights you will usually find (1) 6/12 LHE, (3) 1/2 NL 100max, (5) 3/6 LHE. On weekends its usually (1-2) 6/12 LHE, (5-6) 1/2 NL 100 max, (5-6) 3/6 LHE, and (1) 10/20 LHE. The 10/20 at SE usually only runs on weekends and sometimes if the right people are playing in it gets bumped to a 15/30. The floor at the SE poker room is horrible, the rake is similar to the downtown casinos; $6 half hour at NL, 10% up to 5 at LHE.

eagle sux, i would never be caught dead there now that i can go to windsor/greektown.

i personally like windsor a lot, v nice casino that always has 1/2 and 2/5, 100/300 max, and also occasioally spreads a bigger 10/20 uncapped i believe.
