wireless router help
 
Would anyone know how to find the password for my wireless router on my desktop computer. I just bought a new lap top and can't connect to my internet because its asking me for my network password. I know its on my desktop just cant find it.I can't for the life of me remember the password. Please help I'm an idiot.

You can always reset the router to factor settings. There should be a button on the back. Then you can google for the default password, and set it up from there.

just reset the router and start fresh.

Thanks for your replies, and I am sorry for being so stupid when it comes to computers but what would I goggle after resetting the router. Thanks again for your time and for helping the handicapped.

u mean the password to access your router settings right?

I think by default its admin

EDIT: USERNAME: admin, PASSWORD: admin

What you provide is generally correct to getting inside the router's settings but I dont think this is his ultimate problem. It sounds like there is a network security/encryption key he needs to be reset.

Two ways to approach this. The quickest way to get online: Reset the router to factory defaults and lose the secure network, press and hold the reset button for at least 10 seconds. This should open up the router for your laptop's access but your network will be unsecured and anyone can jump on and use your internet.

The better way is sign-on as admin and set a new network security key. Download your manual for instructions.
