Is Coaching the right way to go ?

Had a few questions hope you guys can help me out. I was thinking about getting a poker coach but I really don't have any info on the subject.

What exactly does/should a good poker coach do ?

How much is the avearge cost for a good coach ?

I assume it's an hourly rate but how should the time in that hour be spent ?

Typical rates are around $150/hour. Coaches typically go over HHs and answer questions.

It's impossible to answer most of your questions without knowing more about where you are as a player and where you want to be.

Generally, the main services coaches provide are hand history reviews, sweat sessions, and theory discussion.

Some coaches do more of one than the others; most do a combination. The type of program that will work best for you depends on what you need/want to get out of it and on how you learn.

I'm pretty sure a bunch of answers to the hourly rate question will get this thread locked. I will add I've heard of hh's being done on a flat fee basis instead of on time, and occasionally coaches offer package deals, but nearly all coaching I'm aware of is done on a hourly rate basis.

honestly like, if youre a beginning player, there are much cheaper ways to improve (pxf, cardrunners, 2p2). if youve tried those and still arent happy with your game/think you could use help to improve more, i think thats the time to start thinking about hiring a coach.

or if you just have a lot of money to spend and want to accelerate your learning process, i guess coaching might be ok then too.

Thanks for the info guys. Well I think only need someone to review my hand histories and stats and give feedback. How find that. I think that's all I can afford. Also I'm gonna sign up to Cardrunners.

I'm not a member of Cardrunners, but I think pokerxfactor will probably be better for MTTs. If you also play cash, I have no clue.

Best coach is yourself. Read a lot of articles(2+2, books, etc), go over your HH on your own(learn from your mistakes take advantage of your strengths), drop down limits until you can beat the game then move up again(so that you can play without fear), oh and chew some gum?!
