I played at the Atlantis Casino (near cupecoy beach) a couple of times about 6 months ago. The regulars were French residents and medical students. They had Sunday tournaments with an entry fee of $60 . My only compliant was the amount of cigarette smoke produced by the players.

Most of the many casinos have at least small poker rooms. Where you want to go depends which side of the island you're staying on.

The resort that we have a timeshare at (Dutch side) is literally a block away from the Hollywood Casino. The facilities are nice and the staff is friendly. I played 1-2 NL the whole week there. They also offered some tournaments (structure wasn't great). The guy who was in charge of the cardroom, as of last Feb, was supposedly the dealer coordinator for the 2006 WSOP (he'll probably show you his picture in card player the second you sit down). The rake is pretty absurd, I think it's %-based, capped at like $10 or $15, but I still found the game to be very profitable. Mostly populated with tourists, with a few locals sprinkled in.
