UTG posts, folded to Hero
Hero : Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] in CO
Hero raises , all fold to UTG who calls
Flop : 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]
UTG checks, Hero bets, UTG calls
Turn: 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

Calls down. This is as standard as it gets.

This belongs in the shorthanded forum.

i think it's against the law to fold an overpair versus a moron who posts UTG.

Re: Turn OP check-raised

this is closer to a 3 bet than a fold.

calling down is best though.

Thats what I did. He had the 7. I just wanted to see if folding was even an option here. So calling down was correct. Ill post next 6-max hand in shorthanded. Thanks.

I'm new, obviously, and a new convert to being a student of the game, although I've played for years. I've been doing some reading, and I'm here to learn, so please don't flame too much if I missed something glaring...

I say fold. You have two outs to make a winning hand. Odds are 22 to 1 on that, but Pot odds are about 8 to 1, and implied only a bit higher. There are lots more outs for other hands, but don't they have to be heavily discounted due to the paired board, flush and straight draws? Villain just check-raised after the turn. Without knowing what kind of player he is it's a guess, but usually only someone with a good hand, or a maniac would do that.
Q Q is a great starting hand, and I know the long term expectation is way positive, but isn't there enough evidence to drop this one?
Again, I'm new. Please educate, don't try to intimidate.

Hi oatmeal. Welcome. You'll learn much here. One of the first things to learn is not having results-oriented thinking. Your post in this hand came after you knew the results, i.e., the utg player that posted did, in fact, have trips. If the OP knew, in fact, that he was up against trips, then he would have been correct to fold his two outer given the pot odds. He did not, however, know that. What he did know was that an unknown player enters the game and posts a big blind when he's under the gun. He could have waited for one hand and simply entered the game. The fact that he did post UTG at least gives the appearance that he may not know what he's doing. How can you credit such a player with having you beaten? From OP's perspective, this is a pretty straightforward call down.

NH OP.

I hope you enjoy the forum oatmeal. I know I have. How's that for a "flame-free" response?
