First Official SMP Poker Tournament
 

Ok, the tournament is now officially set up, or at least the wheels are in motion, and we should be good to go.

The details are as follows:

When: Thursday, Jan. 11th, 9:00 PM EST

Where: Pokerstars Private Tournaments

What: $22 NLHE tournament, 1500 in starting chips, 15 min levels

How: Just log into PS shortly before the tournament. I assume, if a password is required, Rduke will post that in this thread. Otherwise, simply join the tournament.

Anyone is free to join, you don't have to be a regular SMP poster. However, if you are a regular SMP poster, feel free to talk trash and make bold predictions in this thread. Also, if your Pokerstars name is different from your 2+2 name, you are free to let me know who you are, in this thread, so I know exactly who it is I am busting out.

My pokerstars ID is hoyahawk1 (I am almost sure, I don't play on PS much, but its something close to that). I will be coming in second in the tourny...this is a guarantee. I will be getting sucked out on as a huge favorite on the last hand. Many will claim this is a sign from God. Debate will rage on for weeks, no consensus will be reached. A beast will rise in the west. These are my predictions.

Ok, I missed a few things, the tourny is called SMP Donkfest, password is Darwin.

And any sort of sidebetting is DEFINITELY allowed. You needn't feel like you have to identify with any particular side (atheist v. theist, scientist v. layperson, handsome v. trollish) this is supposed to be fun.

The tournament is called "SMP Donkfest" and the password is "Darwin" without the quotes.

I plan on making loose preflop calls to whittle my stack down, then reraising with top pair, medium kicker and get it all in drawing near dead.

I took over a friend's tournament last night and won it for him. I plan on using the same strategy in the SMP Donkfest that I did for my friend:

Step 1: Get down to a little more then 1 bb... push with any 2 cards (like J3)

I will be called by a vastly superiour hand but suck out doubling up.

Step 2: Repeat step 1 since stack is still too small to be effective. Double up again

Step 3: Get dealt Aces - Open push because after the last 2 hands, people will think that I am doing this with any 2 cards. Knock someone out when they call with AQ because they're certainly ahead of my range.

Step 4: Immediately get dealt aces again. This time make a regular raise... get reraised by someone pushing and knocking them out.

Step 5: Get ACES AGAIN... open push again and get another caller. Knock them out. Now I am the big stack and dominate the rest of the game.

This really happened last night and it was beautiful. I'm counting on it happening again.

I know you had said earlier that you probably wouldn't be playing, but this is a personal challenge. Enter and we can maybe switch that location back to what it was before this one.

for those of you who would enjoy live voice chat, i'll be making my ventrilo server available to the smp tournament entrants for sure - maybe others as long as there isn't too many.

you will need to download/install the ventrilo client here:

it's a very easy install.

you will obviously need a headset (with microphone).

I am "WixaM" but I've also been on megatilt lately. I've been trying to practice controlling that by playing 2 cent 4 cent limit and it has helped a lot. We'll see how I feel about actually putting money on the line come Thursday.
