Stranger Approaches My Daughter, Gives Her a Present

So I'm waiting outside of Mimi's Cafe for a table for my 2 1/2 year old daughter and I to have lunch together. We're sitting out there and a guy walks outside to have a smoke and pulls out a pack of reds. Then, he comes and sits strangely close to us. Before I even really have a chance to think wtf? he says hi to my daughter and gives her this:

And says "Happy Sunday!" like three times. My daughter said "What's this?" and I said "It's a present!" I was so dumbfounded I told my daughter to say thank you, sat there awkwardly for a couple of minutes, and then went inside with her to see where we were on the list. As we were walking away the guy said "Happy Sunday!" again.

Handing out ANYTHING to other peoples' children without asking the parent first just isn't acceptable. I still can't tell how enraged I should've been, but I suspect this will raise the ire of a few folks around here.

i think the guy was trying to make sure your daughter wasn't a vampire. standard. nothing to get upset over.

LFS:

Are you trying to say you hate Jesus?

so your sat with her, maybe if she was playing somewhere in view and you seen him give her something, it would be out of order, but i dont see the harm.

Certainly wouldn't cause a fuss over something this little.

This is weird, but it's too hard to say what kind of weird without seeing the guy do it. Sometimes an older person will do something like this and it doesn't seem suspicious to me. The fact that it's a cross with jesus on it is confounding.

I think you have to be there to make the call on what to do other than keeping an eye on him.

Standard Jesus freak.

The guys from the 'moron neighbors' post will be over soon to tell you it's your own fault now if you let your daughter out in public now that you know freaks are out there.

Probably just a member of god's squad trying to save the world by spreading religion. A little creepy, but no reason to fight the guy or anything. I think you played the situation fine.

That's supposed to say "He said" right?

Fundos are weird.
