88 in bvb oop
reads: villian is running 25/23/3...we haven't butted heads much as the other villain is my main target at this table running around 40/10...i see him as being able to 3-bet somewhat light...but not recklessly
Full Tilt No-Limit Hold'em, $0.50 BB (3 handed) Full Tilt Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums) Hero ($89.15) BB ($50.75) Button ($104.05) Preflop: Hero is SB with 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. 1 fold, Hero raises to $1.75, BB raises to $5, Hero calls $3. i think preflop is pretty standard Flop: ($9.75) 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players) Hero checks, BB bets $5.5, Hero calls $5.50. i think i'm ok calling this flop, pretty safe against his range, i want to see what he does on the turn Turn: ($20.75) A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players) Hero checks, BB checks. now i'm thinking he has a pocket pair, not sure whether mine is best tho River: ($20.75) A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players) Hero checks, BB bets $16, Hero? this doesn't make sense to me, if he has a pocket pair he would likely check behind, if he had an ace i would think he would fire turn again...maybe something like KQ or JT?...what do you guys think here? can we call this? |
Re: 88 in bvb oop
Why do you call the PFR?
I don't think its standard too, mayb just imo. |
Re: 88 in bvb oop
PFRR call is fine IMO, I fold the flop here though.
|
Re: 88 in bvb oop
ok, well considering i did what i did, 1) what range do you have villain on when he bets river and then 2) what's ur river play?
|
Re: 88 in bvb oop
I dont think calling the 3bet here is profitable here.
You wont hit your set/win the hand enough when he misses the flop enough to make it EV+ in the long run imo. |
Re: 88 in bvb oop
This is played fine. Consider CRAI on river sometimes to fold out TT-KK which would also take this line hoping you are forced to call with a smaller PP like you have.

Re: 88 in bvb oop
I think you are calling 10bb here
The general rule is 5-10%. 10% being max and rather marginal. Added to this the fact you are OOP for the rest of the hand I think this isn't EV+ |
Re: 88 in bvb oop
i raised to 1.75, he raised to 5, i called 3.25
|
Re: 88 in bvb oop
this is actually a really interesting hand.
i also fold the flop a lot, sometimes call but now im at river i probably shove. This might be pretty high variance though. |
Re: 88 in bvb oop
I think pf is fine. You cant assume youre calling for set odds, this is BvB and people do all sorts of random [censored]. I think people are extremely over aggro in these spots tbh. I think I fold river because his line looks like TT/JJ/QQ/KK tbh from his post flop play. He checks behind as he is scared that you floated him with an A but you checked twice so now he is going to valuetown you.

i raised to 1.75, he raised to 5, i called 3.25 [/ QUOTE ] Regarding the rule of 5-10% of stack sizes wen calling a 3bet: if i raise to 4bb, he 3bets to say 12bb, then i should fold a pp due to having no odds to set mine right, cos i would be calling 12% of my 100bb stack yeh? its not 8% is it? |
Re: 88 in bvb oop
As far as that rule, it applies to how much extra you have to call as you already invested in the initial raise in the pot. So if you raise to 4, he makes it 12, you have to call 8 so whatever 8 is % wise of your stack after you make the initial raise.
