I suck at online poker...
I admit it, I suck at online poker. I have been playing and losing online for years, and I am tired of it. I bought in for $600 the other night and donked it off at 5-10 & 10-20 limit in less than 2 hours. I have no discipline. The first step is admitting that I suck, now it's time to improve. I just signed up for Cardrunners last night, and bought the gold package. Before I go further I AM NOT AFFILIATED WITH CARDRUNNERS AT ALL! I just want to say, that site is awesome. The first few videos I watched I saw so many LEAKS in my game it wasn't even funny. Those videos are really amazing, well worth the $125 price tag. I have so many flaws in my game and bankroll management is one of them. FROM NOW ON I AM GOING TO STICK TO THE 300BB RULE. To make sure of this, I am going to start a blog, I will keep it updated. If I know people are watching me play and reading my blogs, I will feel too ambarrased to play above my bankroll. When I set up my blog, I will put a link to it in my 2+2 profile. I just wanted to admit to the 2+2 community that I suck at online poker, and that I have no discipline. Cardrunners is an awesome site and I am going to watch ALL of the limit and no limit holdem videos. Any ideas on where I can start a free blog? Thanks guys.
PS: Mike Haven if this is in the wrong section I apologize sir, feel free to move it, thanks. PSS: I know I am going to hear the Gamblers Anonymous jokes and all the other flames, I am prepared for that! |

Whats your SN and at what site? [/ QUOTE ] Ha, I know you want to sit at the same table with me and take all my money! I won't be revealing my sn right now, because I won't be playing online poker until I get a lot of my leaks fixed. |
Re: I suck at online poker...
I think you'll be better off making that 600bb+ roll.

I think you'll be better off making that 600bb+ roll. [/ QUOTE ] 600BB would be fine if I played for a living. I don't play for a living, I play for recreation. Also, I have a full time job and a steady paycheck. But thank you for your input. |
Re: I suck at online poker...
Just so you know for sure, 300BBs means 300 big bets for Limit. 300bb (big blinds) or even 300BBs is nowhere near a large enough bankroll for NL.

Re: I suck at online poker...
$3000 at 100NL is 3000 BB
or do you mean 50/100 NL 100NL is .50/1 |
Re: I suck at online poker...
OK I guess what I am saying is you need 30 buy-ins for NL. So if you play 100 NL you would need $3,000, correct? How much would you need for the 50/100 NL game, $30,000???

Re: I suck at online poker...
For limit, think of your bankroll in terms of big bets. Standard *minimum* recommended bankroll is 300 big bets. Example: $10/$20 limit would require a minimum $6,000 bankroll.
For no-limit, think of your bankroll in terms of buy-ins, where one buy-in equals 100 big blinds (which is usually the maximum online poker sites let you buy in for). Recommended *minimum* bankroll for NL is 20 buy-ins. So in a $10/$20 NL game (also called $2000 NL), one buy-in is $2000. The recommended minimum bankroll for $10/$20 would be $40,000. EDIT: Also I should add that as your go up in limits, your relative bankroll size should become larger to compensate for tougher games with higher variance. For example, $10/$20 NL is considered high stakes and most people who play there would agree that a 20 buy-in bankroll is far to small... something like 50 buy-ins would make them feel more comfortable. Of course, bankroll management in general can depend a lot on your ability to move down after a downswing. If you have difficulty playing lower limits seriously, then you need to have a larger bankroll at the limits you play at to compensate so you won't have to move down after a downswing. |

Any ideas on where I can start a free blog? Thanks guys. [/ QUOTE ] I can't think of a better site than our very own CardRunners to start up a blog. We get a free blog with our monthly subscription. |
Re: I suck at online poker...
Also remember that you need 300 BBs or 20 buy-ins if you are a winning player. You are not a winning player (yet). So, you still need some learning curve BBs

Re: I suck at online poker...
Look for the Low limit instruction guide forum, then watch Brystmar's Low Limit NL series of video's. If you can't survive with $200 for 10NL playing while watching and learning from this series I would be very suprised- Six Peppers and FruityPro are the best for your NL needs from there. GL.

Re: I suck at online poker...
why not blog at blogger.com?

Re: I suck at online poker...
From my perspective it sounds like your playing at stakes that are too high for your skill level. While it may not be glamorous to move down it will save you money, help you gain more experience and give you a chance to apply what you are learning.
