new player on internet

i am new to poker. just 8 months old. i have been getting better at my tourny play, online and live(b&m games) but i cannot figure out ring games online. people tell me just don't play, but i want to learn. i get seriously frustrated, not to mention the money i've spent trying to learn. does anyone have any advice to give me on how to succeed in online cash play. i am open to any suggestions.

you might want to wait a few years, most people don't gamble when they are 8 months old.

seriously though, reply to hands, post hands, read the sticky.

Absolutely do not do this. Absolute waste of money for a beginner (and for most people in general). Just read this forum and don't tilt!

don't get coaching yet. study the sticky which contains excellent material to improve your game.

cardrunners or leggo poker or both are great too

get some hands in at a level where you can afford to lose. just call it education money

when you play a hand and don't know the best line to take, write a post on here and we will try and help you

play micro stakes cash. make friends w. people who u know are good at poker. try to play live cash with good players and listen to their discussion of hands etc. cardrunners videos are good too. playing HU is good too i think, u learn hand values and how to adjust to a wide range of opponents.

what are cardrunners?

Re: new player on internet

read the stickies in the microstakes forum, play a ton of hands at low stakes that you can afford to have at least 20 buyins for, post lots of hands in microstakes and reply to other people's threads to get your own thought process going. Dont spend any money on coaching or cardrunner's for a while until you at least have learnt the basics and can beat microstakes. good luck with it!

I'd suggest that you just read (Sklansky's NLH book is awesome) and mostly, get experience. Play as many hands as you can and analyze and think about the hands. Don't be shy about reading over your hand histories (not just for your hands, but for how opponents played hands as well) and try to study them. Playing and thinking about the game will improve your game, so do it.
Anyway, good luck to you in your journey to improve and master the game...
