Vegas, Live/Online, and the Ultimate Online Edge

There has been much talk about live vs online players, but very little is said about the ultimate advantage the online players have.

Poker is all about decision making, and frankly it appears the online guys have really won this one. Now I have been to vegas many times, and it is fun, but every time, I end up way past ready to leave.

It seems online players have basically found a way to play this great game, many of them doing it full time, from the comfort of a much more ideal 'home' or even from their exotic travels. I know many players who basically say if online didn't exist, they would quit playing as a job simply because of how much the lifestyle of a live pro in Vegas would just be depressing and suck.

So IMO, this is one area of the poker world the online players are making a far better decision at. Poker is a great game, but is it worth living in the concrete playground and spendning your time amongst the degenerates of the world every day? I think not, not if you don't have to.

Thank you internet.

Haha, yea yea yea...

I do wish to add that all this talk about how the online best would fair as regulars in the big games live is a bit silly. Why? Because it isn't that the online players COULDN'T become the best players in those games, its that they have shown (and nor should they) zero interest in shifting to a far worse life just to prove something to these live guys. Time and time again, online players play live and win, but only from time to time, and for fun.

They may jet over for the big games once or twice a year, but would never move out there just for the pissing contest, again an example of decision making at its best.

Online poker has one major advantage: I can speak out loudly 'you [censored] idiot' into the general direction of my pc screen and without offending anyone.

Live has its appeal it's just more fun and the money is easy compare for example 5/10 no limit to online

While the games are softer, anyone who wins online would need to play much higher stakes to win the same amount live. There is nothing more painful for a short-handed multi-tabler than a 10 person, single, LIVE, NL table playing about 20 hands an hour total. It is more fun for about two hours, then the novelty part of it gets old fast..

Probly cause he was being a jackass and didn't realize its not kosher to call out donkeys or tell people they suck at live 500NL or 1,000NL. Maybe he forgot casino security loses interest in the safety of its gamblers once you exit the premises. These guys are degenerates who play live every day, it takes someone with a space between their ears to talk smack, especially in sin city. Shut your yap and drag pots. Just being presumptuous of course.

I hate live its mundane, one table, and you have to deal with micro onliners who think they're god's gift to poker. Then they go home to their $5 sngs cause most of them suck at live cash anyways.

Wait a minute, I guess I love live.

I like the soft poker live, but find that after a week my hangover borders on incurable.

Okay, I'll compare them.

Winning player at 5/10 no limit:

Online multitabler: $500/hr+
Live singletabler: $100 an hour..if you are lucky

Do you hate money?
