Full Ring No-Limit Forum requests a split.

Hopefully Mat will get a chance to comment this time.

The Full Ring No-Limit Forum consists of players from 2NL up to 1000NL and above. As you could guess, this creates a lot of problems.

It's a little bit silly IMO that the biggest poker strategy forum on the internet clumps together all stakes in one forum of the most popular poker game. 2NL plays nothing like 1000NL. NLFR has become the new zoo.

Before the naysayers point to traffic in our forum, I would like to point out that many aren't participating because of the current layout. Lots of micro-stakes guys don't want to have their basic/beginnerish questions ridiculed by the higher stakes guys. And the higher stakes guys don't want to post in a forum that predominantly covers games which are well beneath their scope.

Recently, we ran this poll to see how much of our community supported a split. The results were:

96% of the posters want a split.*

In another poll, 71% of our community* said that a split would lead to increased participation by them.

Many of us believe that the ideal layout would be 3 forums:
2NL-50NL micro stakes
100NL-200NL small stakes
400NL+ mid to high stakes

Although we know that a total of 3 forums might not be feasible at this time, we are hoping to at least split into 2 forums on a trial basis to see how it goes. We're not sure where the split should take place, but we mostly agree it should be either at the 100 or 200 level.

I would also like to point out that while I don't have access to specific traffic data, I'm sure that either one of the split forums would be more popular than any of the seven limit forums that exist.

I will let others chime in as to why a split would be good.

Re: Full Ring No-Limit Forum now unanimously requests a split.

Hey,

I currently play 400nl+, and this absolutely needs to be done. I rarely give any advice in the strat part of the forum as it is too hard to wade through the many UNL posters and the bad advice. I will participate if we can have a higher limit forum in a split.

Re: Full Ring No-Limit Forum now unanimously requests a split.

I definitely agree the forum needs split. Today's posts have made that even more clear. It's a bit ridiculous to see a NL2000 post right next to a NL4 post. The advice for the exact same hands at those two limits is likely to be completely different, and it would be much easier to have the forums split as opposed to browse through all the posts and find the relevant ones.

Re: Full Ring No-Limit Forum now unanimously requests a split.

I don't think Full Ring ever should've been split off in the first place. It's really not that fundamentally different from 6max (yes, I've played a lot of both).

eviljeff,

please stop trolling this thread.

You are not a FRNL poster so nobody really cares about your opinion.

Thanks.

*grunching*

I predict the percentage in favour of a split is directly related to the fold percentage of those same people

Why are you posting here?

We do have a system of labling our posts, but many posters don't like digging through a bunch of other pages to click on a thread involving a hand for the stakes in which they play.

We don't need your help here, but thanks anyways.

A lot of times I sit down at a 6max table when there is only 4-5 people there.

I want my own forum for this.

To keep it short:

This is long overdue. The forum is suffocating with irrelevant posters offering their take on already misapplied advice. We should probably make it NL2-NL50 (low) NL100+ (high) with the intention of going to three forums in the future: NL2-NL50, NL100-NL200, and NL400+

I agree it should be split. I post there occasionally and would be more inclined to post more if it was geared towards specific limits.

Full ring needs a split 100/200+ 100/200- lets do it.

In short, this forum is labeled "About the Forums", and thus is for discussion of the many forums on 2+2. It is not titled "About the Forum" or "About the Full Ring Forum" in which case eviljeff's posting here could be viewed as a bit more puzzling.

Your question does leave some ambiguity, though. Are you asking why eviljeff is posting here on 2+2? I imagine that, in general, it's due to the fact that he plays poker, although there are certainly 2+2ers that don't really play and like to be part of the community. You'd have to ask eviljeff what his particular reason is.

If your question is rather "why are you posting here?" in a more existential sense - for example, "why are you posting on Planet Earth" - we may have to turn to Robert Mayshaque and hope someone can complete his unfinished 104-man onslaught to answer such musings on existence.

I think he's talking about the restriction that you can't be in two places at once. since you are seemingly always somewhere on 2p2 other than FR, you can never be in FR.

Yes, I think the best split would be 100+ and 50- for these reasons.

Re: Full Ring No-Limit Forum now unanimously requests a split.

Im really happy that people who never play FR or post in the forum are chiming in here! FR play is much different than shorthanded games (I play FR/6MAX/HU and win) starting with preflop and then obviously becoming more relative from that street towards its own type of game invovling its own type of players. The lack of 3 betting an cold calling has much to do with this as well as the limping preflop and narrowed hand ranges in general.

I personaly hate FR now and dont see much of a point to playing it but as a veteran from that forum i can say that..... even though threads are labeled with stakes, its still annoying to read through 20 retarded micro stakes responses just to find 1 decent players thoughts.

No point in not splitting this forum, It a joke as it is right now. Atleast the higher stakes FR has a fighting chance to be something 2p2 can be proud of (aka make money from)
