Re: chris moneymaker hit rock bottom?

So just because CM won the main event 4 years ago he should always play super high stakes regardless of whether or not he can beat them? CM is not, nor does he claim to be, a world class player.

He has however admitted to being a compulsive gambler and longtime loser at poker. If anything him playing 10/20 is a sign that he's got things under control in his life. FWIW 10/20 limit on Stars is not an easy game to beat from what I've heard.

Re: chris moneymaker hit rock bottom?

he can beat 5/10 ?

edit: oh, limit... but still

Dynasty 11-19-2007 04:16 PM

Re: chris moneymaker hit rock bottom?

I don't remember seeing Chris ever play high stakes in Las Vegas. I've only seen (or heard) him play 40-80 limit and 2-5 no-limit. He's probably played 5-10 no-limit

He's never seemed to be driven by a need to be viewed as a high stakes player.

Re: chris moneymaker hit rock bottom?

he would have to really screw up to be a life time looser at poker.

and who wouldn't be depressed playing limit poker?

pretty sure he was saying "not really" to the guy who said "bummer", but it's funnier to think he was saying his wife is ugly

Re: chris moneymaker hit rock bottom?

He probably said "not really" to the "bummer" comment. I mean, I want to partake in the NVG fun, but that particular section of the chat wasn't too riveting.

I played 2/5 NL with him 2 years ago in Vegas.

Great thread, OP.

chris's new wife is a really really hot, he traded up well. Also chris is super rich off his name and poker hardly matters for him.

if i won the ME, i would probably be playing 10/20 on the norm, and i have little doubt that i am a better overall player than CMM.

[/ QUOTE ]is it a requirement to play high stakes if you have lots of money/? look at fossil he plays sensible limits. if you can win a nice amount regularly, more than a well payed job, why play high. leave all that crap to the 19 year old ballas. i think playing poker should be about freedom, not having to prove anything to anyone about how good at it you are and how ballah you live!

Re: chris moneymaker hit rock bottom?

Humberto plays .10/.20 Limit tables giving poor people like me a chance to play pros. Maybe Moneymaker was doing the same thing.

gregorio 11-19-2007 06:25 PM

Re: chris moneymaker hit rock bottom?

Moneymaker is such a nit. He should be more like Gold and play 3/6/12 until he is busto.

chezwiz75 11-19-2007 06:27 PM

Re: chris moneymaker hit rock bottom?

I think it is funny that people always want to get on Moneymaker even though he is the reason 3/4 of the people here are here. He created the wave of fish and for that we should all be grateful.

Re: chris moneymaker hit rock bottom?

i agree i got interested in poker without even knowing who moneymaker was at about the same time he was "big". i think poker was going to explode whatever happened. i think it started from when latenight poker started airing and grew from there tbh.

Qrawl 11-19-2007 06:47 PM

Re: chris moneymaker hit rock bottom?

Poker exploded because everyone went broke with the dotcom crash and poker was the only thing left to make money online at.

What I don't get is why so many people here berate his play like he thinks he is awesome. He has never claimed to be good. There isn't really any reason to point out he sucks when everyone, including him, knows it

I saw Jennifer Harman playing free money tournaments before. What does that say about her. It made her look much better to me than before
